Glutathione shows up constantly in wellness conversations. Here's the actual biochemistry.

Glutathione is a tripeptide: a small molecule made of three amino acids-glutamate, cysteine, and glycine. It's present inside nearly every cell in the human body, and it's the most abundant antioxidant your cells produce on their own.

That last part matters. Vitamin C and vitamin E come primarily from your diet. Glutathione is different: your cells synthesize it, continuously, using building blocks they assemble internally.

You'll often see it called the "master antioxidant." That's a nickname, not a scientific ranking. "Most abundant intracellular antioxidant" is closer to the truth, and honestly, more impressive.

If glutathione does all of that, can you just take more of it? It's a reasonable question with a genuinely complicated answer.

The first obstacle is digestion. Glutathione taken by mouth is largely broken down in the digestive tract before it reaches circulation intact. That's a well-documented limitation, and it's why much of the research has looked at precursors instead-compounds that supply cysteine and the other raw materials, letting cells do the building themselves.

The second obstacle is the evidence base. Human trials in this area tend to be small, short, and varied in how they measure things. Results on biological markers are mixed, and evidence for outcomes people actually notice is limited.

None of that means the science is going nowhere. It means it isn't settled, and anyone telling you otherwise is ahead of the data.

At the Wellness Institute, we follow the science of cellular metabolism.

NAD+ is one of the most talked-about molecules in health right now. So what is it, actually?

NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is a coenzyme found in every cell of the human body. A coenzyme is a helper molecule: enzymes need it in order to carry out their reactions.

Its best-known role is in energy metabolism, where it helps cells turn nutrients into a usable form of energy. It's also involved in DNA repair and in how cells signal to one another.

That combination is why NAD+ has drawn so much attention in research on metabolism and aging.

At the Wellness Institute, we follow the science of cellular metabolism.

Does exercise really protect your brain? 🧠

Exercise does more than strengthen your muscles. Your brain responds to movement, too.

Research suggests that regular physical activity is associated with better cognitive function and supports biological processes involved in brain health, including neuroplasticity and cardiovascular function.

But it's important to be precise: exercise is not a guarantee against cognitive decline or dementia. Brain health is influenced by multiple factors, and physical activity is one important piece of the bigger picture.

You don't need to start with an intense workout. Walking, cycling, strength training and other forms of regular movement can all contribute to a healthier lifestyle.

How you start your morning can influence the rest of your day.

☀️ Get natural light first
Morning daylight helps regulate your circadian rhythm, reduce melatonin production, and increase alertness.

💧 Hydrate before your coffee
After several hours without fluids, drinking water first helps restore hydration before your morning caffeine.

📵 Wait before checking your phone
Giving yourself a few uninterrupted minutes before diving into notifications can help you begin the day with greater focus and intention.

Small habits, repeated daily, shape your energy over time.

Save this to revisit tomorrow morning. 💚

We often talk about stress as something we simply need to "manage."

But chronic stress is also a biological experience that can influence how the brain functions.

Research suggests that prolonged stress exposure is associated with changes in brain systems involved in memory, attention, and executive function.

That doesn't mean stress is always harmful. Short-term stress is a normal and adaptive response.

The important distinction is chronic, prolonged exposure without adequate recovery.

At btt Brain Wellness Institute, we take a broader view of brain health - one that goes beyond the absence of disease and focuses on understanding the brain and supporting long-term brain wellness.

Taking care of your brain also means taking care of the conditions in which your brain operates.

Sleep.

Movement.

Connection.

Recovery.

Healthy routines.

🧠 Brain wellness is more than the absence of disease. It's an ongoing commitment to supporting your brain health.

Stress rewires your sleep cycle. 🧠

Ever notice how stress leaves you exhausted all day, but wide awake at night? Here's why: an overactive brain stays in alert mode, making it harder to slow down and transition into restorative sleep. Instead of cooling down at night - which is one of the brain's natural goals during sleep - it keeps processing stress signals, disrupting your rest.

At BTT Brain Wellness Institute, we use non-invasive brain cooling technology designed to support healthy brain thermodynamics and help you get deeper, more restorative sleep.

If stress is affecting your sleep, it may be time to support your brain differently.
