Thirty years of doing what I love!

Photos from Cuts for Peanuts's post 10/10/2026

Sweet Kendall was back dancing with me this week! Per usual it was in the hallway. Kendall doesn't feel comfortable going into the salon, I meet her in the hallway. She loves my frog chair, I bring it out into the hall. She's never sat on it, I usually take a spin and make her laugh. This last haircut was a first, she got up and spun Mr.frog. Kendall was pretty chill this last haircut! She has the sweetest soul and I'm thankful just to dance with her! Kendall has taught me a valuable lesson. If you take the time to sit down and listen to her, she will trust you. Most often it is just her wanting to sing songs. So we sit in the hallway her mom and I, singing with Kendall. Then she lets me cut her hair. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.

Happy Wednesday evening!
My schedule has opened up after what seems to have been 4 months of a full book. Mornings to mid day are pretty open now through October! As for those looking for later day:early evening, I'm considering offering 6-7 time slots.

Yep, that was me in the way back of an suv giving Matthew a haircut. He was safely strapped into his seat. His mom helped me keep Matthew calm and sometimes helped with his hands when they wanted to swat me away. The life of a parent that has a profoundly autistic child often requires a sense of humor, willingness to change plans at the drop of a hat and sometimes getting a haircut in their car. Matthew is bigger than me now. We discovered that cutting his hair in the car was the safest and fastest way to get the job done! While Matthew didn't enjoy the haircut, he did give me a high five after and said,"bye." I told him I loved him and was proud of him.
As I unfolded myself from the back of their SUV we realized a few cars had witnessed the haircut in process. I said," oh everyone around here is use to seeing back seat haircuts now." It's no big deal!
Peanuts on wheels! 🤣🥰
Life provided me with this ability to cut hair on moving targets and I'm so thankful!

"How'd you hear about me?"
"My mom found you on Google."
"We are from Virginia."
Repeat that and replace with New Jersey and Instagram.
Today had me physically feeling like I was playing twister while in my head feeling overwhelmed and beyond blessed at the same time. All while somehow being calm.

It's a pretty cool day when two new clients traveled tri state to get in with you. I love my tiny salon! Thirty one back to school seasons! Thirty one years of me living my dream of helping children! It's a beautiful dance!

Hello Peanuts, August is here! As the new school year approaches, the demand for services is expected to surge. My schedule is currently full, but you can join the online waitlist. To avoid last-minute scheduling conflicts, I suggest securing school picture and holiday haircut appointments without delay. I hope everyone enjoys the rest of summer!

Today was just WOW! So many success stories! Sweet Elliot rocked it today. I've been working on gaining his trust. Elliot doesn't like me using a comb or shears. I have to be creative with my hands and buzzers. Elliot is mostly non speaking, on spectrum. I have been asking him to "help" me cut his hair and this has been a game changer for us. In the videos you will see he is holding my hand and I'm instructing him how to move. He did great today! We finished with the trimmers around the edges! That's a bfd! So proud of him! What some people don't understand is non speaking doesn't mean they aren't listening. If given the chance many will overcome what is challenging for them. They just need a chance to process and grow! I will share all 3 videos in the comment section along with a pic of him getting a reward. Elliot you rock and I'm happy just to dance with you!

A heartwarming full circle moment today. A new client, a charming two-year-old, came in for his first haircut with his parents. When I asked how they found me, his dad, Charlie, shared a wonderful story. He reminded me that I had cut his hair when he was younger, and how comfortable he was with me. He asked if I remembered him. I said," yes because I had cut his hair until he was in high school. "Charlie was the first person I had met with a Tourette's diagnosis. I recalled adjusting my approach to accommodate his needs, and we would chat and laugh together. Charlie said that he never felt awkward or uncomfortable with me, he was just Charlie. He said,"you always adjust the appointment to me. You never talked differently. You always talked to me, asked me questions. You always made me feel like Tourette's was normal. Charlie's wife, Ashley, added that they drove two hours for their son's first haircut, no questions asked. It was a beautiful full circle moment,he trusted me with his son. I am still a little misty eyed over this. Charlie came back to see me, brought his son for his first haircut. I think I started cutting his hair when I was 27! Dancing in the tiny shop!
