Anemoia : (noun) nostalgia for a time you’ve never known
I’ve always been very sentimental, and I’ve especially always had a fascination with the past - beauty, fashion, just everything. When I was younger, I swooned over classic movies and music, and loved listening to my grandparents tell stories about their lives. In my adulthood, I’ve developed a sort of hobby out of collecting items from times before.
From Art Nouveau vanity sets to Art Deco jewelry, from mid century furniture to depression era glass, each of these items has a soul, a story to tell.
This little vignette is from a corner in my home beauty studio 💕 What I love most about having my studio in my home is the added layer of intimacy it allows between me and my clients. A large part of their day is spent with me, and I share in some of the most personal, emotional moments of their lives. Having them come to my home for their bridal preview and meet my fur babies, my family, and be amongst my little things helps them know and trust me even more, so when I show up on their wedding day, they feel more like they’re greeting a friend than they are a vendor.
It means a lot to me that each of my brides choose me for their day, and I love that my work gets to be a part of so many beautiful love stories.
