The PCOS Hair Loss Survival Guide was created with consumers in mind, with practical information and tools to help someone better understand their hair and scalp while navigating PCOS.
It’s one resource that can become part of a broader conversation around PCOS and hair health, not a replacement for individualized medical care, but a starting point for understanding and taking action.
More resources like this are coming to the Digital Product Library. 🌿
Ok, what are you asking and why?
I’ve worked with women who have been experiencing hair loss for 5+ years… and their hairstylist has been one of the only people they’ve consistently talked to about it.
And honestly? I’ve been that client, too.
I remember sharing concerns about my own hair with my stylist and realizing that there weren’t necessarily informed questions being asked beyond, “What have you been doing differently?”
Not because stylists don’t care.
But because most hairstylists aren’t trained to recognize the bigger picture behind hair loss.
And that’s exactly why I want to have this conversation.
If your client tells you:
“My hair isn’t growing like it used to.”
What do you ask next?
You don’t need to diagnose their hair loss.
But you can be prepared to recognize when something deserves a closer look and help your client know what questions to ask next.
So I want to hear from the stylists in my comments:
When a client tells you they’re experiencing hair loss, what’s the FIRST question you ask?
And if you’re a stylist who wants a little more guidance on what to ask during your consultation, I created a Hairloss Consultation Guide for Stylists to help you have more informed conversations with your clients.
Because hair loss is medical, not cosmetic. 🤎

October marks the beginning of Breast Cancer Awareness Month 💞 Nutrition can play an important part in supporting long-term breast health.
Although no one food can prevent breast cancer, these are some suggestions to help decrease that risk.

A little behind-the-scenes look at how I think through PCOS + androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in practice.
About 22% of individuals with PCOS experience AGA, so hair changes can be an important part of the clinical picture.
One thing I love about using resources our resources? You can make them work for your practice.
For virtual visits, for example, one question I may ask is:
📸 “Do you have photos of your hair from last year or even five years ago?”
Those older photos can give us another way to understand changes over time, especially when we can’t physically examine the scalp together.
Our resources are not designed to stay static. Add your notes. Ask better questions. Make them useful for the way you practice.

As clinicians, we were taught a nutrition-focused physical exam that barely touched the surface of hair and scalp concerns — meanwhile, hair loss is likely to impact every woman in the world at some point in her life.
I'm hoping these resources change that, little by little — equipping dietitians with the knowledge and confidence to discuss hair loss with their patients, and arming those patients with the tools to advocate for themselves with their dermatologist and throughout their care team.
