DON’T BE LIKE MIKE: A GLP PSA
Mike is my husband. I love Mike but Mike is also my favorite example of what NOT to do while taking a GLP.
Mike takes his medication.
Mike loses weight.
Mike also eats like crap.
Mike doesn’t strength train.
Mike makes very few changes to his actual lifestyle.
Then Mike stops his medication for a while…
Mike: “Why am I gaining weight back?”
GLP-1 medications are incredible tools, but they are not a substitute for building habits that can support your results long-term.
And these medications are doing a LOT more than simply making you less hungry.
GLP-1–based medications improve glucose regulation by helping your pancreas release insulin appropriately when blood sugar is elevated and reducing inappropriate glucagon release. As weight and metabolic health improve, insulin sensitivity can improve too.
Why does that matter?
Insulin is essentially one of the signals that tells your cells, “Hey, there’s glucose available—let’s use it.”
When you’re more insulin sensitive, your body can respond to insulin more efficiently, helping glucose move from your bloodstream into cells where it can be used for energy or stored for later. That means better glucose control and less demand on the pancreas to continually produce higher amounts of insulin.
And here’s the part people forget:
Exercise—especially resistance training—also improves insulin sensitivity.
Active muscle can increase glucose uptake during exercise through pathways that don’t depend entirely on insulin, and regular training makes skeletal muscle more responsive to insulin afterward.
So while your medication is creating a metabolic environment that may make weight loss and glucose control easier, THAT is the time to capitalize on it:
Eat enough protein
Build and preserve muscle
Improve the quality of your diet
Move your body regularly
Stay hydrated
Prioritize sleep
Learn portions and hunger/fullness cues
Create habits you can actually maintain
Because if the only thing that changes during treatment is how much you eat because the medication makes you less hungry, what happens if you eventually stop it?

I like training for life, not just for the gym. This type of training helps you stay strong enough to lift heavy things, mobile enough to get on and off the floor, coordinated enough to avoid a fall, and reactive enough to catch yourself when you step off a curb wrong. It’s about maintaining independence, resilience, and confidence in your body for decades to come.
WE NEED TO TRAIN OUR WHOLE BODIES!
What’s your favorite style of workout?

Aging Skin’s New Best Friend: GHK-Cu + Estriol ✨
As we age, our skin doesn’t just lose collagen—it also experiences hormonal changes that can contribute to dryness, thinning, dullness, fine lines, and loss of elasticity.
That’s why I’m excited to offer our custom-compounded GHK-Cu + Estriol Face Cream, designed to support healthier, more resilient skin from multiple angles.
✨ GHK-Cu (Copper Peptide) helps:
• Support collagen and elastin production
• Improve skin firmness and elasticity
• Reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
• Promote skin repair and overall skin health
✨ Estriol helps:
• Improve skin thickness and hydration
• Support collagen production in estrogen-deficient skin
• Enhance skin texture and radiance
• Reduce the appearance of crepey, thinning skin often associated with aging
Together, these ingredients create a powerful anti-aging combination that works beyond surface-level moisturization to help restore healthier, more youthful-looking skin.
Ideal for:
✔ Fine lines and wrinkles
✔ Crepey skin
✔ Dry or thinning skin
✔ Loss of firmness and elasticity
✔ Perimenopausal and menopausal skin changes
If you’re interested in adding GHK-Cu + Estriol Cream to your skincare routine, reply to this email or contact the studio for more information.

Why Where You Get Peptides Matters
Not all peptides are created equal — and neither are the places selling them.
There’s a BIG difference between receiving peptides through a licensed pharmacy/provider relationship versus ordering from random peptide websites online.
⸻
Pharmacy/Provider-Sourced Peptides
✔️ Prescribed through a medical provider
✔️ Sourced from licensed compounding pharmacies
✔️ Sterility & quality testing performed
✔️ Dosing guidance included
✔️ Medical oversight & monitoring
✔️ Better transparency on ingredients/concentrations
✔️ Reduced contamination risk
✔️ Support if side effects or reactions occur
These are intended for patient care and individualized treatment plans.
⸻
Peptide Websites
⚠️ Often labeled “research use only”
⚠️ May not undergo sterility or purity testing
⚠️ Unknown sourcing/manufacturing standards
⚠️ Higher risk of incorrect dosing/concentrations
⚠️ No medical supervision
⚠️ Some products may contain impurities or inconsistent ingredients
⚠️ Little to no accountability if something goes wrong
Many sites market aggressively online, but flashy branding ≠ safety or quality.
⸻
Why This Matters
Peptides are biologically active compounds.
What’s on the label isn’t always what’s in the vial — especially when products are unregulated or improperly handled.
Purity, sterility, storage, dosing, and medical guidance all matter.

Our Philosophy at Reflections Health & Wellness

• Quality sourcing
• Medical oversight
• Education & transparency
• Personalized guidance

I think people underestimate how often we come into contact with chlorine. It’s not just pools — it’s showers, baths, tap water, hot tubs, cleaning products, etc. And while it helps disinfect water, it can also be pretty harsh on the body over time.
Some things people commonly notice with frequent chlorine exposure:
• dry, tight, irritated skin
• worsening eczema or dermatitis
• brittle hair and faded hair color
• scalp irritation
• red or irritated eyes
• respiratory irritation from heavily chlorinated pools/hot tubs
• that “chemical smell” lingering on the skin and hair
• increased skin sensitivity over time
One thing a lot of people don’t realize is that the strong “chlorine smell” at pools isn’t actually a sign of cleanliness — it’s often chloramines, which form when chlorine reacts with sweat, oils, urine, lotions, etc. Those compounds can be especially irritating to the eyes, lungs, and skin.
That’s part of why I like using ascorbic acid (Vitamin C). It helps neutralize chlorine on the skin and hair after exposure instead of just letting it sit there.
I’m not saying chlorine is evil or that we should all panic over tap water… unless you’re drinking it on a daily basis, then we should have a chat! But I do think our bodies tend to do better when we reduce unnecessary irritation and support the skin barrier where we can.
Sometimes wellness is less about “detoxing” and more about simply lowering the amount of stressors your body is constantly dealing with .
For the kids bath water- I just add a sprinkle of it and mix it in.
For the shower or pool- you can make a spritz with an empty water bottle, distilled water and ascorbic acid powder. Use this before and after.
Vitamin C helps neutralize chlorine, so instead of all that chlorinated water just sitting on your skin and hair continuing to dry everything out, it helps break it down first.
I’ll gladly send the link to anyone who wants it!
