Think about a normal week. Not an unusually open one, and not the schedule you wish you had.

If you realistically have 10 minutes, build for 10 minutes.

A routine you can actually use will support you more than a beautiful plan that only works when your calendar is empty.

One question I return to in every transition, more than once:
What do I want to carry into what is next, and what am I ready to set down here?

Nobody decides that for you. The season does not.
The calendar does not. Not the pumpkins in the store while it is still eighty degrees.

You are not where you were. You are not where you are going.

The garden is not what it was in July. The dahlias are still blooming. The tomato beds are empty. The leaves across the street are turning, and it is still eighty degrees.

I walked past all of it this week and felt something I did not expect.

Not because anything is wrong. Because something is ending, and I was watching it end.

This gorgeous dragonfly came for a visit on the porch.

Saying I get to choose is where it begins. It is not where it ends.

What makes it real is not the declaration. It is the returning. Choosing again, and again, until choosing from clarity is simply what you do. That is the work, and it is the most worthwhile work I know.
