When the air is filled with smoke, haze, or poor air quality, our bodies can feel the effects. While red and near-infrared light therapy is not a specific treatment for smoke exposure or respiratory illness, it does provide relief and offers many healthy benefits.
Light Therapy helps support your body's natural recovery and overall wellness during times of environmental stress. It can make a strong difference for YOU AND YOUR PETS π π
β€οΈ Supports Cellular Energy β Helps your cells produce energy (ATP), supporting your body's natural recovery and resilience.
π₯ Supports a Healthy Inflammatory Response β Helps the body maintain a balanced inflammatory response to everyday environmental stressors.
π©Έ Supports Healthy Circulation β Encourages healthy blood flow, helping deliver oxygen and nutrients throughout the body.
π« Supports the Muscles Used for Breathing β Helps to support the muscles involved in breathing as they recover from normal daily strain.
π‘οΈ Supports Immune Health β Helps support your body's natural immune function and overall wellness.
π Supports Relief from Tension & Headaches β Many people find red light therapy relaxing and helpful for easing muscle tension that can accompany smoky conditions.
β¨ Supports Healthy Skin β Smoke and dry air can leave skin feeling stressed. Red light therapy helps to support healthy, vibrant skin.
πͺ Supports Overall Wellness & Recovery β Clients report feeling more refreshed, relaxed, and energized after their Light Therapy sessions ( Low-LevelLightTherapy).
π Remember: Red light therapy does not filter smoke or replace common-sense precautions. Continue to follow local air quality recommendations, stay indoors when air quality is poor, use a HEPA air purifier if available, and wear an N95 mask when spending time outdoors.
β€οΈ Give your body a little extra support during wildfire season!

π LOW-LEVEL LIGHT THERAPY IS MORE THAN JUST RED LIGHT
May 12, 2026
β¨ Many people use the phrase βRed Light Therapy,β but red light actually falls within the broader category of Low-Level Light Therapy (LLLT) β also called photobiomodulation.
π Low-Level Light Therapy is much broader than just βred light.β
π‘ So what IS Low-Level Light Therapy?
Low-Level Light Therapy uses specific wavelengths of light to support cellular function and biological responses within the body.
π¨ The color we see is tied directly to the wavelength being used.
π In other words:
β’ βLow-Level Light Therapyβ describes the type of therapy
β’ The visible color (blue, green, red, etc.) reflects the wavelength range being used
β¨ This is why red light, green light, blue light, and infrared are all discussed within the broader field of photobiomodulation, even though they are different wavelengths with different characteristics and applications.
π¬ What matters most?
β¨ Wavelength.
Wavelengths are measured scientifically, but they also appear visually as different colors within the spectrum of light.
π Different colors = different wavelengths
π΅ Blue light = shorter visible wavelength
π’ Green light = mid-range visible wavelength
π΄ Red light = longer visible wavelength
β« Infrared = beyond visible red light and cannot be seen with the naked eye
β‘ Even though people often group βredβ and βinfraredβ together, they are not the same thing.
They are different wavelengths and interact with tissue differently β which is why many professional systems combine them together.
𧬠Why do wavelengths matter?
Different wavelengths pe*****te and interact with tissue differently.
β οΈ That DOES NOT mean shallow or visible wavelengths are weak or ineffective.
Every wavelength within Low-Level Light Therapy has different strengths and purposes.
For example:
π΅ Blue wavelengths are commonly used for acne and surface skin concerns
π’ Green wavelengths are commonly associated with skin appearance, calming support, and certain pain-support applications
π΄ Red wavelengths are widely used for skin health, circulation, recovery, and cellular support
β« Infrared wavelengths are commonly used when deeper tissue support is desired
β¨ Generally speaking:
- Shorter wavelengths tend to interact more toward the surface
- Longer wavelengths tend to pe*****te more deeply into tissue
π‘ But βdeeperβ does not automatically mean βbetter.β
Different depths support different structures and goals.
Surface-level support can still be extremely beneficial because many important structures exist closer to the surface of the skin.
Meanwhile, deeper-penetrating wavelengths may support deeper tissue structures such as muscle, joints, circulation, and recovery.
β¨ This is one reason many systems combine wavelengths together rather than relying on only one.
βοΈβ¨ Non-UV light therapy
Unlike tanning beds or UV exposure, Low-Level Light Therapy is:
βοΈ Non-thermal
βοΈ Non-invasive
βοΈ Non-ablative
β¨ Low-Level Light Therapy does not rely on ultraviolet (UV) radiation the way tanning systems and traditional UV exposure do and it is safer (few contraindications).
π₯π« βNon-thermalβ means the goal is not to heat, burn, damage, or intentionally injure tissue.
Note: Some devices may feel warm, especially when infrared wavelengths are involved, but the goal of photobiomodulation is support β not controlled injury.
INSTEAD , Low-Level Light Therapy β also called photobiomodulation β uses specific wavelengths of light to support cellular function, signaling, and biological responses within the body.
β¨ Non-ablative vs controlled injury
Ablative treatments work by intentionally creating controlled injury in order to trigger repair.
Low-Level Light Therapy works differently. The goal is support, stimulation, recovery, and cellular signaling β not destruction of tissue.
πͺβ¨ What is LLLT commonly used to support?
β¨ Recovery
β¨ Circulation
β¨ Skin health
β¨ Temporary pain relief
β¨ Inflammation support
β¨ Body goals, including:
β’ body contouring
β’ muscle tone / recovery
β’ circulation / lymphatic support
β’ skin appearance /firmness
β’ post-workout recovery
β¨ Relaxation and sleep support
β¨ Muscle recovery
π At FatCats Laser and Light, multiple technologies and wavelengths are used because different tools and protocols may support different treatment goals, body areas, and applications.
π Education, consistency, and proper treatment protocols matter.
π¬ Questions are always welcome.
