Some lessons come with practice… others will have you questioning your whole career 😂 Here are 3 things I wish I understood sooner:

1. EVERY SET DOESN’T NEED TO LOOK LIKE YOUR INSPO PHOTO.
Different natural lashes, eye shapes, and lash lines create different results. Learn how to customize the look for the client in front of you. An inspo picture gives you direction—not a result you have to promise.
2. YOUR SPEED WILL COME. STOP RUSHING YOUR FOUNDATION.
Taking longer doesn’t automatically mean you’re bad at lashes. Give yourself time to build clean isolation, proper placement, and consistency. Rushing to finish won’t help if you spend the appointment fixing your work.
3. BEING ACCOMMODATING DOESN’T MEAN BEING AVAILABLE 24/7.
You can love your clients and still have business hours, policies, and days off. Set expectations early so you’re not constantly having uncomfortable conversations later.

I love doing lashes, but there are things I would’ve handled differently if I had guidance from the beginning. That’s why I teach beyond just creating a pretty set in my classes. 🤍

I almost went crazy so you don’t have to:

1️⃣ This one may ruffle some feathers but.. being a “custom lash artist” isn’t unique anymore. That doesn’t mean it’s not a SKILL, but it’s not the thing that’s going to really make you stand out because every other lash artist is doing it. Spend some time learning your competitive edge if you want to grow your clientele.

2️⃣ Stop switch product brands so often. New products every week can lead to new PROBLEMS every week. I’ve been using By Yenesys products for years without switching up. Consistent products + quality = consistent clients.

3️⃣ Don’t be afraid to practice using models! I know we all like to “charge our worth” but taking models just to practice + content is what helped me grow as both a lash artist and educator. It’s also the BEST content.
