44… and what a year leading up to today it’s been.
New opportunities. New experiences. New friendships. New collaborations. New rooms I never imagined I’d find myself in. Big career moments, beautiful memories, hard lessons, and a lot of growth.
And for the first time since turning 40, I’m celebrating a birthday that hasn’t arrived alongside grief, loss or emergency surgery 🤣. That feels significant.
This year reminded me that life can change when you least expect it, and sometimes the rooms you thought you wanted aren’t the rooms meant for you at all because there were even better ones calling you in.
To everyone who has supported me, followed along, hired me, referred me, uplifted me, celebrated me, or said my name in rooms I wasn’t in, thank you. I notice it all, and it never goes unappreciated.
And to my husband Nick Mochi , thank you for your support through this crazy life. I couldn’t imagine doing any of it without you.
I’m incredibly proud of the life and career I’ve built and continue to grow, but even more excited about what I know is still ahead.
And can we just give it up for the incredible photographers I get to work with who capture so many versions of me? The talent I’m surrounded by is unreal. 🫶🏼 I’m beyond fortunate. These are just a few of my favorites from this year, with so many more photos and photographers I love.

“I only want light, natural makeup… so shouldn’t it cost less?”
NO. But let me explain why.
Natural makeup is a style, not a discounted service.
And I’m seeing this conversation come up more and more lately.
You’re not just paying for how much makeup you can physically see on your face. You’re paying for the years behind the brush. The expertise. The time. The travel. The professional kit. The skin prep. The sanitation. The product knowledge. The setup. The breakdown. And the skill to make everything look so seamless that it appears like you’re barely wearing makeup at all.
Because here’s the part people miss:
Making makeup look effortless IS the artistry.
Natural glam. Soft glam. Full glam. Those describe the look you want, not the value of the professional creating it.
After 20+ years as a professional makeup artist, I’ll say this every time: the less you notice the makeup and the more you notice the person wearing it, the more intentional the artistry usually is.

I’m sorry, but when did bashing other makeup artists become a content strategy?
Having an opinion is one thing. Constructive criticism is part of being an artist, and there is so much we can learn from each other when it’s actually constructive.
But there’s a difference between sharing what you would do differently and deciding another artist did something “wrong.”
Especially when we’re talking about someone’s client. You weren’t in the chair. You don’t know what that client asked for, what they specifically didn’t want, what their skin was doing that day, what references they brought in, what they were comfortable with, or what conversations happened before the final look.
The same goes for products and techniques. What doesn’t work in your kit might be a staple in someone else’s. What you would have used instead, or what you personally like better, doesn’t automatically mean what another artist loves or uses is wrong.
Constructive criticism should help artists grow. It shouldn’t exist to prove that you know better.
There is plenty of room in this industry for different techniques, different products, different aesthetics, and different opinions, without making another artist the punchline of your content.

Our work, our techniques, and our love of certain products can speak for themselves. We don’t need to diminish someone else’s to elevate our own.
