Low blood sugar, also known as hypoglycemia, can make you feel shaky, dizzy, or have a harder time concentrating.

Going extended periods without eating, exercising without proper fuel, or intentionally restricting foods can all lead to hypoglycemia.

Feeling awful between meals doesn’t have to be your normal. Try include balanced snacks in between meals to keep your energy up.

One of the most common things I hear as a dietitian working with menopausal women is, “I wish I looked like I did in college.”

Expecting your body to look the same decades later isn’t realistic, and pursuing that younger version of yourself can come at the expense of your health and well-being.

Menopause is a period of change, both physically and mentally. Rather than chasing a smaller body, focus on what your body needs during this stage of life, which is supporting bone and joint health, preserving muscle mass, eating enough to meet your needs, and maintaining a healthy, positive relationship with food.

Menopause can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to navigate these changes alone. We’re here to help you feel supported, nourished, and confident through this next stage of life.

RED-S is a serious consequence of low energy availability in athletes. Bone health, cardiovascular health, immune function, physiological health and reproductive health are all impacted by RED-S.

It is important to highlight that RED-S impacts men, as well as women. Any athlete can be impacted by this syndrome.

If you or someone you know is struggling with RES-S, schedule an appointment with Kristin Foreman, who is our Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics.

Underfueling is a major concern when it comes to athletes, both on a recreational and professional level.

Without adequate caloric intake, your body is not going to have enough energy to support essential body functions, leaving you feeling drained.

Eating consistent, balanced meals throughout the day and increasing your intake as your exercise increases will help your body have the fuel it needs.

If you are looking to learn more, schedule an appointment with our Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics - Kristin Foreman.

Both pre and probiotics work together to boost your gut immunity. Whether or not you need to be taking these supplements depends on GI concerns, use of antibiotics, or wanting to diversify your gut microbiome.

If you’re wanting to learn more about if a pre or probiotic is right for you, visit us at janereagannutrition.com to schedule a consult.

The documentary “Threshold” gives viewers something we don’t see often enough - an elite athlete being open the reality of an eating disorder.

Jessie Diggins’ story is a strong reminder that eating disorders don’t have a certain “look”, and that even someone performing at the highlight level athletically can be struggling.

Have you heard of the “Ozempidemic” that is taking over? The gaining popularity of GLP-1s is rebranding eating disorder behaviors as healthy. Just because weight loss is involved doesn’t mean this is beneficial to your health.

Instead of focusing on being as thin as possible, what if we spend our energy trying to be strong, fueled, and nourished.

If you are struggling, we are here for you. Visit janereagannutrition.com to check out our Preventing Eating Issues program. 🫐

This week, Jane and Claire gave a presentation to coaches and support staff at University of Wyoming educating them on eating disorder prevention and education.

We are so appreciative for this experience to share our expertise in the subject, and are so thankful to the entire team at Wyoming for allowing us to do so!

If you are interested in having us speak to your athletic program about eating disorder prevention in young athletes, reach out or visit our website to learn more.

When traveling or trying new restaurants at home, you may encounter items on the menu that you’ve never heard of. I encourage you to take a chance and try it!

In my recent trip to Portugal, I tried fresh sardines, limpets, and the most freaky scabbard fish!😳 We also prepared lovely meals in our rental home with local and fresh ingredients.

Traveling is a great opportunity to try new foods that may be out of your comfort zone - and I am so glad I did!
