A quick science breakdown for anyone curious about these popular skincare ingredients!

Skin cells communicate using a variety of signaling molecules, including growth factors and peptides.

Peptides are short chains of amino acids, the building blocks of proteins. Some peptides occur naturally in the body, while others are designed in the lab to mimic or enhance biological activity. Depending on the peptide, they can support processes such as collagen production, skin structure, or the reduction of visible signs of aging.

Growth factors are naturally occurring proteins produced by cells such as fibroblasts, keratinocytes, and stem cells. They have complex 3D structures that allow them to bind to specific cell receptors and influence how skin cells respond, repair, and function.

So:
▪️ Peptides = shorter amino acid chains that can support and influence cellular signaling
▪️ Growth Factors = naturally occurring signaling proteins that help regulate cellular communication

Different molecules. Different mechanisms. Same goal: supporting healthier-looking skin.

I love seeing messages like these.
Especially when this particular client had a very horrible allergic reaction from a peel courtesy of a "medical spa"- the Esthetician there should be fired and stripped of her license if you ask me.
If you saw the reaction she got, and then read the ingredients of the peel, and read the follow up texts between client and previous esthetician, you would agree
(I especially loved the part where she said other clients had the same reaction. 🫨🫢🤯 my head nearly exploded right there in the treatment room)
I digress....
Going into this treatment, I was very precautious.
And curtailed as best as possible my shock and anxiety for the horrible neglect she experienced, elsewhere. This SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED.
I treated her with care, love, empathy, and completely focused on how to treat my "delicate skinned" client.
I performed a very thorough analysis, looked up ingredients, played detective 🕵️‍♀️ and with a lot of TLC and a lot of experience on my end, she is finally seeing the way of a TRUE Skin Therapist.
After her 1st treatment, she is back to happy, healthy, skin and I couldn't be happier for her.
