That afternoon, a light rain was falling as I hurried through a small alley. Suddenly, I heard a faint whimper. Under an old roof, a tiny puppy sat soaked and trembling, pressed against the wall. It looked at me with eyes full of fear and a silent plea for help. Unable to walk away, I picked it up, wrapped it in my jacket, and took it home.
In the first few days, the puppy was very shy, only eating when no one was watching. I patiently cared for it—bathing, feeding, and slowly teaching simple commands like sit, lie down, and come. Over time, it grew stronger and smarter than I had expected. It learned to observe, became alert around strangers, and always stayed close whenever I went out.
One night, there was a strange noise at the gate. The dog immediately barked loudly, standing guard in front of the door with a watchful gaze. Thanks to its warning, I was able to notice someone attempting to break in. From that moment on, I realized that the little puppy I once rescued had not only been saved—but had become a loyal protector of the entire family.
