Dark Moon's Witchy Glow

The first Sunday of Virgo season is for cleaning what cannot be seen.

Not every home feels heavy from visible clutter. Energy gathers in forgotten corners, around doorways and inside rooms where arguments, grief, exhaustion or worry have lingered.

Begin by opening a window. Sweep each room slowly, moving towards the nearest door, while imagining stagnant energy being lifted and carried out. This is not ordinary cleaning. Each movement tells your home that what has overstayed its welcome must leave.

Add a pinch of salt to warm water and wipe your doorframes, windowsills or altar space. As you work, say:

“I cleanse this home of what no longer belongs. Only peace, protection and nourishing energy may remain.”

Ring a bell, clap your hands or gently strike a singing bowl in corners where the atmosphere feels particularly still. Sound can shift the energy in places a broom cannot reach.

If it is safe for you, burn a small amount of rosemary and allow the smoke to move through the room. You can also simmer rosemary in water or use a fresh sprig to sprinkle your prepared salt water.

When you have finished, stand at the centre of your home and take one deep breath. Notice what feels different.

Virgo season reminds the witch that cleansing is not punishment, perfection or an attempt to control everything. It is an act of care. Sometimes restoring your power begins with clearing one room, opening one window and deciding that yesterday’s heaviness will not follow you into the season ahead.

Moths belong to the hours when the world becomes quieter.

They emerge after sunset, moving through darkness on soft wings, gathering around windows, candles, lamps, and doorways where light spills into the night. Their pale bodies and silent appearances made them feel less like ordinary insects and more like visitors from somewhere unseen.

Across folklore, moths have been connected to souls, death, dreams, transformation, and messages from those who have passed. A moth entering the home could be interpreted as an omen, a wandering spirit, or a reminder that the boundary between worlds had grown thin.

Unlike the butterfly, the moth transforms in darkness and remains a creature of it.

It does not become a symbol of daylight, colour, and open gardens. It keeps its relationship with shadow. This is what gives the moth such powerful meaning in witchcraft and spiritual symbolism.

It represents the person searching for truth in hidden places.

The soul drawn toward mystery.

The desire that becomes so strong it risks turning into obsession.

Then there is the flame.

The moth’s attraction to light became a symbol of longing, devotion, temptation, and self-destruction. It reminds us that not every light is safe, and not everything that calls to us is meant to be touched.

Still, the moth continues to seek illumination.

It carries the courage and danger of wanting to see what darkness has concealed.

The moth is not simply fragile.

It is transformed, nocturnal, persistent, and willing to enter the unknown.

A creature born from darkness.

Still searching for light.

A kettle quietly singing on the stove. Linen curtains dancing in the breeze. Books stacked beside a cozy chair. Long baths by candlelight. Soft blankets, open windows, and nowhere I need to be. A life with less rushing and more noticing. Less noise and more birdsong. Less surviving and more living. Maybe healing isn’t always found in grand moments. Maybe it’s found in warm tea, worn wooden floors, fresh bread, afternoon light, and the simple comfort of feeling at home. For now, I’ll keep dreaming of cottage kitchens, cozy corners, and a slower, softer way of living. 🌿✨
