1. Not using a heat protectant
2. Using the highest heat on your iron
3. Not drying your hair completely before using an iron

𝗗𝗜𝗗 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗞𝗡𝗢𝗪? It can take a week for the cuticles of your hair to fully closed after a chemical service? You should wait 𝗮𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 48 hours (ideally 72 hours ) before washing your hair again after your appointment, to really give your hair time to seal in the color!

The more you wash your hair the quicker your color will fade. That’s why a great dry shampoo it like Kevin Murphy’s fresh hair is such a life (& color 😉) saver.

Ocean & pool water can be very drying on your hair, keeping a bottle of leave in conditioner/ detangler & a wet brush in your beach or pool bag is SUPER helpful!

✨ Only shampoo your scalp. Your ends are vulnerable, shampoo will dry them out BIG time. The only time I ever shampoo ends is if I'm removing hair color, chlorine or sea water- I follow with a deep conditioning hair mask on these occasions.

✨Lather & massage the shampoo on every single part of your scalp. It is easy to miss behind the ears, the nape of the neck and the crown but if you do miss these areas, your hair will feel oily by the next day.

✨Always do 2 shampoos. The first one is often only enough to shift the dirt, oi & product buildup, but not enough to properly clean the hair, the second shampoo will give you the squeaky clean feel and last a lot longer between washes.

✨Run tho conditioner all the way through your ends using your fingers, a wide tooth comb, or a wet brush.

✨ Only apply conditioner from the ears down. If you have breakage higher up- do a pre shampoo treatment first where you can cover your whole head.

✨Don’t wash in super hot water. Hot water will dry out the scalp and hair and contribute to high colour fade. Just use warm water instead.

✨Rinse,rinse,rinse. Don’t leave any residue behind or your hair will feel flat and heavy.

✨ Use a leave in conditioner post wash every single time.

Start following these golden rules and your hair will feel like you have stepped out of a salon every time you wash your hair.
