I’m the first to admit, my social media game is not that strong. I haven’t updated my website in forever, and I don’t often do shoots for myself, kinda unusual for a working makeup artist in this field, but life is just BUSY!! My dear friend Juliet asked me in July, “when is the last time you had headshots done?” And I said, “probably like 10 years ago when you last took them!” 🤪 So she came out to my house and we did these together. People, Juliet is THE BEST at this... I’m just so comfortable with her, as everyone always is- she is so funny, so *really real, and I’m so happy to call her the best kind of friend you could ever hope to have. She loves and supports me as a friend just as I do for her. And she is a talented creative whose vision goes far beyond photography. Happy 2018! 🎉
Each January, I like to spend some time organizing business from the previous year to get ready for taxes. This includes calculating mileage.
One thing that is really fun to see is how many actual miles I drove to work. In 2017, I drove two thousand, five hundred and twenty seven miles to make people pretty. 2,527! That's a LOT of car time. 🚘 Looking on the map, that would be like driving to California.
It's important to review where you've been, but I'm also looking forward to what 2018 has in store.

Honored to meet and do makeup for Dr. Bernice King, daughter of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Coretta Scott King, as well as CEO of The King Center. Dr. King had an interview with the BBC with journalist Zeinab Badawi, who was also lovely to work with. Look for it to air in about a week!

Inspiration today courtesy of 86 year old grandmother of the bride 👰🏼👵🏼 She was mostly a quiet woman during much of the day, and had not requested makeup so I never had a chance to really interact with her. As I packed up to leave and all of the young ladies were in the other room, she came over to ask my opinion of the lipstick she was wearing. At her request we chose a new color for her to go with her dress :) She began telling me about her life. When an elderly person wants to tell you their life story, by the way, you listen!
She said she went straight from her father's house to her husband Fred's house at the age of 18. Fred was a few years older than her and was a WWII vet. Had 3 children, and was done having babies by age 24. Married 61 years! Her husband died a few years back, but before he did, he showed her how to do things around the house she would need to know. He told her he thought she would want to stay inside the house after he was gone.
This petite little lady is at the gym most weekdays, and uses weights as well as the treadmill and elliptical. She is also an editor for a magazine publication of 14,000 readers. She has to be home when the lawn man is there working, otherwise he doesn't cut her yard the way she likes it :) :) So cute! She was mentally sharp and physically able to move around quite easily. Her secret to longevity is keeping it moving, both mentally and physically. I want to be like her when I'm 86 years young!! We should all :)

Having a great time on my second set this week!

3 day photo shoot wrapped up for First Reliance Bank in three different areas of our beautiful state! The last shoot day took place in a rustic old grain farm barn, turned into a photographer's dream studio, on the photographer's grandparents' land in old to***co farming country. The floors were original and oozing with character. Man I love seeing these unique places!! 😍
