DON’T OVERSPEND/BUY ITEMS YOU DON’T NEED
One of my number one makeup tips for beginners is NOT to go out and buy a bunch of expensive, high-end products and/or products you simply don’t need. When you are first starting out, it’s all about testing the waters, experimenting with products and finding out what works best for you and your beauty needs. Instead of breaking the bank with products that may or may not work for you, I first recommend heading to your local drugstore.
Although a lot of people will tell you that drugstore makeup products are cheap and low-quality, it’s simply not true. My everyday makeup routine is about 85% drugstore, and what most people don’t realize is that high end products and drugstore products are often manufactured by the same parent company. A great example of this is L’Oreal who also manufactures Giorgio Armani and YSL. See? Dupes aren’t always just a mere coincidence- most of the time they’re simply made by the same company.

Changing your face with bronzer
Classic: Apply your bronzer in the shape of a number 3, working from the sides of your face into the middle. This adds extra warmth and structure to your face.
Trend: If you’d rather slightly lift your face, use an angled powder brush to work in a “C-shape” motion. Start at the widest point of the cheekbone and follow the shape of the letter “C” as far as your temples and forehead.

A flawless makeup look isn’t about using too many products—it’s about how you use them. Always begin with clean, well-moisturized skin so your makeup sits smoothly and lasts longer. Apply foundation in light layers and blend patiently, especially around the edges of your face for a natural finish. Cream-based products help create a soft, skin-like glow, while setting only where needed keeps the look fresh, not cakey. MAKEUP BRUSHES ARE YOUR FRIEND
If you’re still using your fingers or the applicators that come in makeup kits, stop. The way your makeup looks has a great deal to do with the way it is applied, and if you haven’t yet, I would strongly encourage you to invest in a good set of makeup brushes and makeup sponges. It will make all the difference in the way your makeup looks, and will help your makeup look more natural and well-blended.

Apply Mascara
Wondering how to apply mascara for the best-looking lashes? Here are some artistry tips that will get your lashes looking extra in just a few swipes.
Always start by curling your lashes before application. Follow with Lash Thickener and Conditioner if you’re going for a full lash look and let this dry. With the mascara wand, start at the base of your lashes and wiggle it back and forth to coat the lashes evenly while keeping them separated. To prevent your mascara from clumping, let each coat dry for about 30 seconds before adding the next. To remove clumps, run a Spoolie Brush through the lashes to separate.
“To give your eyes an extra lift and a slight winged effect, concentrate most of your mascara application towards the tail end of lashes—outer cluster, and really load them up with pigment for extra drama," adds Janeena.
“For a more open and rounded effect, apply an extra coat (or two) to center lashes. Or for longer looking lashes, apply an extra coat to just the tips of lashes."
If you love length and volume don't be afraid to layer to different formulas. "Try layering our Lash Lengthening Mascara and Volumizing Mascara or use one for upper and the other for lower lashes,” she shares.
Never share your mascara. A tube of mascara is good for about a year after opening, but with regular use, it should only take about 3 to 6 months to finish one up.

WHAT ARE LIPSTICK UNDERTONES?
Just like your skin, lipstick shades have undertones too - warm, cool, and neutral. It is simply the ‘hidden’ colour underneath the main shade of lipstick. Here’s how you can identify which undertone your lipstick falls under:
• Warm Shades: Lipsticks for warm undertones are like colours of the sun, yellow, orange, or even red.
• Cool Shades: Cool undertone lipsticks have hints of blue, pink, and purple the other half of your colour wheel.
• Neutral Shades: Neutral lipsticks have balanced undertones and don’t lean too warm or cool. Coffee colours and taupes are some examples of neutral tones.
