Halloween is spooky enough without bringing home unwanted guests!

A few simple habits can help keep head lice off your Halloween checklist:

Skip shared try-ons: Avoid trying on costumes, wigs, or hats that others have recently worn.

Keep costumes personal: Remind kids not to share costumes, wigs, hats, or other headwear with friends.

Add prevention to your routine: Use a lice prevention spray as directed to help support your family’s prevention efforts.

Bag it up: After Halloween, place costumes and accessories that have been in close contact with hair in a sealed bag for a few days if they can’t be washed. Lice generally die within two days away from a human head.

Have fun, stay spooky, and keep those creepy crawlies where they belong!

🔎 Checking for lice? Make sure you’re looking in the right places!

Lice can be surprisingly easy to miss, so pay extra attention to these four areas:

-Front of the hairline
-Crown of the head
-Behind the ears
-Back of the neck

Part the hair into small sections and look closely near the scalp for crawling lice and nits (lice eggs) attached to individual strands.

Lice eggs develop best close to the warmth of the human scalp. Once they’re removed from the hair and away from that environment, they’re unlikely to hatch successfully.

That’s why thorough removal matters! Our Hair Fairies pay close attention to both live lice and nits to help families tackle an infestation with confidence.
