🌱HOW DO INGROWNS FORM?
Simply put: ingrowns happen when a hair grows back into the skin instead of up and out (see second slide)

🌱WHY DO THEY FORM?
Ingrowns are usually caused by clogged hair follicles

🌱WHY DO THEY HURT SO BAD?!
There’s nothing worse than a painful ingrown. Because the hair is trapped, it causes inflammation which can lead to redness, bumps, and irritation

🌱I’M SO OVER INGROWNS. WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO PREVENT THEM?
The best way to prevent ingrowns is to…say it with me….EXFOLIATE! Regularly at that. That once every two weeks is not going to cut it. You should be exfoliating 2-3x a week with an exfoliant that does not clog your pores

POV: You just got a brazilian wax. You’re smoother than a babies butt. And then…..

These pesky, white or red bumps appear all over and to make matters worse? They are SO f*ckin itchy! You’re freaking out. You don’t know what to do.

You’re thinking to yourself… is it an allergic reaction? Did my waxer double dip? Should I breakup with my waxer AND my boyfriend?

Calm down. Before we make any irrational decisions, I’m here to tell you what’s REALLY going on.

My love you have what’s called ✨folliculitis✨

🤍WHAT IS THAT?!
- Folliculitis is the inflammation or infection of hair follicles, often caused by bacteria, fungi, or irritation. It appears as red or white bumps that may itch or hurt.

🤍OK BUT…WHAT IS THAT??
- Basically your hair follicles got irritated or infected, causing red, bumpy, or itchy spots.

🤍HOW DID I GET IT?
There are so many causes. A few include:
- Friction or irritation (tight clothing/underwear)
- Blocked follicles (dead skin cells, oils, products that aren’t your skins bff)
- Hot and humid environments (saunas, super hot showers, hot tubs, etc)
- S*x before the 24-48 hr period is up

🤍 WHAT DO I DO NOW?
- Dab on some Benadryl or Cortisone cream to soothe redness.
- Keep the area clean and cool with a compress.
- Follow the aftercare instructions given to you by your waxer

🤍 HOW DO I MAKE SURE THIS NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN?
- Exfoliate 3-4x a week w/Agent 88, 50 Grit towel, or Just the Strip Ingrown Roller
- Avoid tight clothes post-wax and let your skin recover.
- Rinse off after workouts to avoid trapped bacteria.
