While eating organic can help avoid pesticides, it’s still better to eat any whole foods over ultra processed foods.

Each year the EWG releases the top 15 foods to buy conventionally that have the lowest amounts of pesticide residue. Below is the list so you know the products that are best to save money on!

Also a good rule of thumb is if it has a peel or outer layer you don’t eat, it will have less pesticide residue as you don’t consume that part.

Here’s the link to the dirty dozen, or the produce that has the most pesticide residue and you may want to consider buying organically if you’re able to. https://www.ewg.org/foodnews/dirty-dozen.php

Looking at cheaper stores like Aldis or Lidl is a great option when trying to save money. They sell a lot of organic meats and produce for great prices!

Also if you just cannot afford or find organic, that’s ok! Focusing on eating whole foods is the most important part, whether they’re organic or not.

Another swap to make!

Buying frozen fruit can be a great option when trying to be cost effective and less toxic. Especially if you have kids like mine who could eat an entire container of raspberries in one sitting.

Another tip, try to find the frozen fruit at a bulk store like Costco or BJ’s! We love the frozen cherries from Costco.

Yesterday completed our 12-day journey to create new habits! Here's a handy list you can save to your phone and bring into your new year.

Day 12: Say a daily affirmation.

Our last habit is all about building confidence. It’s easy to fall into comparison traps and feeling less than. That’s why you should begin each day saying something positive about yourself, to yourself. It’ll put you in the right headspace.

Day 11 Habit: Stand up for 5 minutes each hour!

A sedentary lifestyle is prevalent in today's society, with many individuals spending excessive time sitting at their office desks or at home. Implementing the 5-minute rule can be achieved by taking a short walk to the bathroom, water cooler, or utilizing a standing desk. Standing helps promote better posture and alleviate back pain.

Day 10 Habit: Take a moment to connect with a friend or family member.

Community plays a significant role in our daily lives, yet it’s often neglected due to our busy schedules. Having a strong community, however, has a profound impact on our health. It provides a sense of belonging, which is crucial for maintaining good mental health and reducing stress.

Reach out to someone you haven’t spoken to in a while and show you care!

The Day 9 habit focuses on taking a multivitamin.

Since many people follow a similar dietary pattern each day and week, multivitamins help bridge the nutritional gaps in their diets. By doing so, multivitamins can increase energy levels, provide immune support, and promote healthier hair, nails, and skin!
