Welcome to Acne Awareness Month.
We’re talking myths.
We’re talking science.
We’re talking treatments.
We’re talking ingredients.
We’re talking sunscreen.
We’re talking acne in melanated skin.
And yes, we’re going to address some of the terrible advice floating around the internet.
Follow along because we’ve got a lot to discuss this month.
I know everybody trying to make a coin, but cmon… 😒
COMMENT UVCHECK and I’ll send you some of my favorite sunscreens ☀️
Y’all I was DOWN BAD yesterday 😭
But unfortunately sunscreen misinformation remained undefeated for another 24 hours so now I’m back on duty.
Reminder:
• Black people still need sunscreen
• SPF in makeup is not enough
• half a teaspoon means HALF A TEASPOON
• the sun is still outside plotting
Happy belated National Sunscreen Day ☀️
Last Saturday we got to send some skincare goodies to Petals & Prosecco hosted by Soft Black Girl Club and I’ve been WAITING to talk about it.
We packed:
💧 Cocoluxe Soft Moisture Cream
✨ and a little sneak peek of something new dropping May 29
I’m not saying much.
I’m just saying…
…it shimmers.
If you went to Petals & Prosecco and grabbed a sample, I need reports immediately.
Tag + if you tried them because I genuinely want to know:
Which one did you open first? 👀
I saw this article and immediately knew context was missing.
This article references an EWG sunscreen report, but the way it’s framed makes it sound like most sunscreen is unsafe… and that is not what was concluded.
Things can be:
• detectable ≠ dangerous
• lower rated ≠ unsafe
• not EWG approved ≠ ineffective
Please do not let headlines scare you out of protecting your skin.
Wear sunscreen.
Use enough.
Reapply.
And no… your bloodstream is not turning into SPF soup.

Did y’all read this article? What part made you side eye the hardest?
This Mineral Sunscreen Didn’t Humiliate Me For Once 😭🌷
Y’all know I’m EXTREMELY picky about mineral sunscreens because too many of them either:
make you look ashy
make you greasy
dry your skin out like drywall dust
But the Bloomeffects Tulip Dew Sunscreen Serum SPF 50? BABY…
This one surprised me.
As somebody with combination oily, sensitive, eczema-prone skin:
✔️ lightweight
✔️ no fragrance
✔️ no white cast
✔️ comfortable wear
✔️ water resistant
✔️ gorgeous finish on melanated skin
And yes, I used the FULL recommended amount because we practice responsible SPF behavior over here 😭
Stamped: BEAUTIFUL.
Comment ROUTINE and I’ll send you where I’d start 👀
Welcome back to:
Skincare Bully Basic Training 😭
Today’s lesson:
Most of y’all do NOT need a 10-step skincare routine.
A solid beginner routine needs:
✔️ cleanser
✔️ moisturizer
✔️ sunscreen
THAT is your foundation.
Then you build from there based on your actual skin concerns.
A lot of people are buying products before they even understand their skin type or barrier.
Now their skin is:
* irritated
* breaking out
* oily AND flaky
* reacting to everything
Your routine should make sense for YOUR skin.
Not TikTok’s skin.

Comment ☀️ SPFREALITY and I’ll send you my favorite sunscreens for melanated, oily, sensitive, and eczema-prone skin 👀
SPF myths melanated people are STILL believing in 2026 are ruining your skin 😭
No…
melanin is not a replacement for sunscreen.
No…
all chemical sunscreens are not automatically “bad.”
And no…
you do NOT have to look gray, greasy, or irritated to protect your skin.
A lot of sunscreen conversations online are outdated and missing context.
FORMULATION matters.
Save this post because summer is about to expose a lot of y’all’s skincare habits 👀
Comment ACNE and I’ll send you the oily/acne-prone summer routine I’d start with 👀
Your breakouts are not random.
And no… I’m not saying food magically “causes” acne.
I’m saying I see patterns in real skin all day as a corrective skincare specialist.
Some people notice their skin becomes:
• oilier
• more inflamed
• more reactive
…when certain habits stay consistent.
Now combine that with:
☀️ heat
💦 sweat
🛡️ barrier damage
💧 dehydration
…and your skin starts struggling.
Most people respond by:
❌ over-cleansing
❌ over-exfoliating
❌ using harsher products
Now they have:
acne AND a damaged barrier.
This is why I keep talking about:
✔️ lightweight hydration
✔️ barrier support
✔️ routines that actually make sense together
