Neutrogena Clear Face SPF 60 With BEMT: My Oily Skin Review

American sunscreen finally got an update. My forehead apparently got buttered. 😭

Neutrogena Clear Face Sunscreen for Acne-Prone Skin SPF 60 is one of the first U.S. sunscreens with bemotrizinol, or BEMT. The FDA permitted this filter in June 2026, its first new sunscreen active in over 25 years.

BEMT protects against UVA and UVB and holds up in sunlight. Having more filter options available to American formulators is worth celebrating.

But here’s how this formula wore on my combination/oily, sensitive, eczema-prone skin:

Four minutes after applying it, I looked greasy. Two and a half hours later, I was still VERY greasy, including to the touch. This wasn’t just the camera catching a little glow.

The texture was nice, slightly thick but easy to rub in. The faint sunscreen scent disappeared, and I had no eye stinging during this test.

Dry skin might appreciate this finish. I might try it again in colder weather. But right now, this cloud-light claim has my forehead filing a complaint.

Hydration sounds great...

Until your forehead still feels coated twenty minutes later.

I tested the Ultra Violette Supreme Screen SPF 50 as someone with combination oily, sensitive, eczema-prone skin.

Here's what I loved:
✔️ No white cast
✔️ Hydrating
✔️ Makeup-friendly finish

Here's what I didn't:
• Stayed tacky longer than I prefer
• Felt heavy on my oilier areas
• My eyes started burning about an hour later (I'm retesting to rule out user error.)

Would I recommend it?

For dry skin... probably.

For combo oily skin like mine... I'm not fully convinced.
