I can laugh with you, make you comfortable, and build a genuine relationship with you without forgetting that you are still my client and I am providing a professional service. I don’t believe being a hairstylist means I have to be loud, overly familiar, use inappropriate language, gossip, or create an unprofessional environment just to make someone feel comfortable.
I want every woman who sits in my chair—whether she’s been coming for years or it’s her first appointment—to feel respected, comfortable, and taken care of. There are boundaries between being friendly and becoming too familiar, and I choose to keep those boundaries.
You can have personality without losing professionalism. You can have fun without being inappropriate. And you can build real client relationships without treating your business like a hangout. My chair is a safe space, but it’s also a business. ✨
