When I started this page 8 years ago, it was just supposed to be me.

At the time, I was a newly single mom with a newborn and a 1yr old. I was lost, unemployed, and desperate. I didn’t know exactly where I was going, but I knew I would do whatever it took to give my kids a better life.

So I started posting my old work while I worked on building an updated portfolio.

I slid into girls’ DMs. I approached them out in the wild and asked if they’d let me do their makeup. And, to my surprise, most of them said yes!

My little apartment became a revolving door of pretty girls. We’d move furniture around to make sure the content looked professional and aesthetic. I even chose my brand colors to match the blue-gray walls of my apartment so I could start creating something that looked and felt recognizable.

My friends called me delusional. They laughed at me for doing “free work” when I was already broke. They told me to get a “real” job or go back to school.

I’m a college dropout, by the way. So… not exactly the traditional recipe for success.

Well,that was then.
And this is now. ✨

Eight years later, the strategy actually hasn’t changed all that much.

I still put artistry first. I still intentionally make time to CREATE. I still believe in strong, recognizable branding.

What we’ve added is an entire white-glove experience around the artistry - and, most importantly, an incredible group of people who believed in the vision enough to help build it with me. 🥹

Glam Atelier may have started as me.
But it isn’t me anymore.

It’s the artists who bring our standard to life in rooms I’m not even in. It’s the administrative team working behind the scenes to make an incredibly complicated operation feel effortless to our clients. It’s the people who care about the craft, the experience, the details, and this brand as something bigger than any one person.

I built the foundation.
They made it an Atelier.

And eight years after sitting in that little blue-gray apartment, broke and asking strangers on the internet if I could do their makeup (I still do this on occasion 👀), I think that might be the part I’m most proud of. 🤍

From the first photo of the day to the last of the night. 12+ hours later, no touch ups. This is how we build hair and makeup to last. ✨
