Aside from the fact that we are usually thought it’s not possible to do in one session, I didn’t expect us to be in a place where gorgeous silver strands are embraced by society! Sometimes it is good to take a break and gather your mental health. Allowing yourself the grace to say “I’m not ok.” Which is what I’ve had to do over the past several months. I had to step away from this idea of perfection that society has pushed upon us. Take personal inventory and check-in with me, and show myself I still mattered. So after much time away, and a lot of processing, I wanted to take this time to re-introduce myself!

My name is Jonathan Phillipe, and I’m a stylist/salon owner here in Columbia, South Carolina. I’m a blonding specialist, and gray transition specialist. I have been in the industry for approximately 8 years, and fall in love with it more everyday! My hobbies include bowling, which is all I do when I’m not at the salon. I was born and raised in NYC, and studied Voice Performance, with a focus in opera while studying at the University of South Carolina. Gorgeous Gray Transformation for this client who was tired of coloring her hair every few weeks, just to hide her stunning silver strands. Total Transformation time was 7.5 hours!

When a client comes in, I usually discuss the option to enhance the natural silver they have in their hair. While it doesn’t match the natural pattern exactly, it is a gorgeous grow out, and leaves the hair looking even more stunning.

While doing these enhancements gives you the opportunity to grow out your silver more seemlessly, there is still some level of maintenance with transitioning. Provided it goes from every 3-4 weeks, to every 3-6 months, it’s something to consider when enhancing your natural silver strands! Toning will help that grow out process after transitioning, and is necessary in my opinion. Even if the majority of your maintenance will be with toning shampoos.

This client wanted match her natural, gorgeous silver strands to minimize and eliminate high maintenance coloring services. We began with a color removal elimin8, then lightened her hair using very thin sections, copying her natural pattern with High Riser and 20 vol. Her lowlight was Matrix SoColor Sync 4P and 6P. was used for every step of this process!

This client was tired of coloring her hair every few weeks, and wanted to reduce her maintenance, so we did a gorgeous silver lining service! We matched and enhanced her natural silver strands by lightening from her line of demarcation using High Riser and 20 volume.
After she processed for approximately 1.5hrs, I resaturated any warm areas, and let process for an additional 30min.
Shampooed the client with Matrix Brass-off, and toned using Matrix Tonal control in the shade Chrome (10T) with a splash of Pear Power (10P).
