Happy belated National Botox Day! 💋💜 It is important to stay hydrated before and after your procedure to help your skin heal and rejuvenate faster. Avoid working out because as you sweat the pores of your skin will reopen, and the bacteria on your skin may enter the skin punctures. This can lead to either a reaction or infection. No one wants that!

Botox is more preventative than restorative. Its active ingredient “freezes” facial muscles to keep you from contracting them in ways that deepen lines and wrinkles.

“Any line that is present at rest, whether it is an etched in frown line, or a deep wrinkle, is not going to disappear with Botox. Botox is not an iron,” says medical, cosmetic, and surgical dermatologist Dr. Estee Williams, MD.

When you hear about people in their 20's getting Botox, it's likely preventative for those who use their facial muscles to express themselves more than the average person!

Recovery time varies for each patient and for each type of filler injected. You can resume most activities right away, but it is generally recommended that you avoid intense physical activity for the first 24-48 hours to minimize swelling and bruising.

With age, our skin becomes more susceptible to wrinkles and sagging. Exposure to sun and years of muscle movement (squinting, chewing, smiling) contribute to tissue breakdown of the skin. The hype around fillers is real!

Facial fillers are products such as collagen, hyaluronic acid and calcium hydroxyl apatite that rejuvenate facial skin by reducing or eliminating wrinkles, raising scar depressions, enhancing lips and replacing soft-tissue volume loss through facial injections.

Lip threads are inserted through the borders of the lips and “when inserted beneath the skin, the PDO sutures hold up drooping skin like a scaffold.” The results are subtle: “You will notice more of a definition than volume increase. The outline of your lips is likely to be more raised and therefore more defined. Think of it as a semi-permanent lip liner with an extra bit of lift.”
