These pictures were taken with no makeup, no filters, no skin smoothing, and no editing imperfections. Just natural lighting and my skin.

As an esthetician, I see firsthand how social media has created such unrealistic expectations of what healthy skin should look like; that pores, fine lines, redness, and texture are imperfections that need to be corrected and then you start questioning why our own skin doesn’t look the same.

And here’s something… My skin has literally been the WORST it’s ever been the past few months. 🫠
I’ve been dealing with skin concerns that I haven’t experienced to this extent before, and it’s quite frustrating. Especially when skincare is literally what I do for a living. I take care of my skin. I invest in professional skincare products with a consistent routine. But that doesn’t make me immune to having skin issues.

Our skin is constantly changing. Hormones, stress, lifestyle, environmental factors, and so many other things can affect it, regardless of how well we take care of it.

There’s nothing wrong with using a filter, I love using a filter😋, but it’s important to see the difference between filtered skin and real skin.

The goal for clients is to help them achieve the healthiest version of their skin.

You can have an amazing skincare routine and still have visible pores.
You can receive regular facials and still experience breakouts.

Stop comparing your real skin to someone else’s filtered skin.

And remember, even your esthetician has pores.
