What are they?

Demodex mites aka lash mites are microscopic, transparent mites that live in our hair follicles. They help to remove dead skin cells.

Now the truth is, we all have these mites on us but when you hear people talking about lash mites, here's what's really happening:

If your lash line is full of dead skin, makeup, and other build up from not washing your lashes, lash mites are attracted to this and you can get an infestation of mites clustered in your lash line.

Long story short- WASH YOUR LASHES!!🫧

Part of caring for your lash extensions is washing them daily. Our skin naturally produces oil, we wear makeup, sweat and cry.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​To help the health and longevity of your lashes you need to make sure you clean in and around each lash where buildup can occur.

Bad lash hygiene can lead to lash mites and/or blepharitis. This is inflammation of the eyelid caused by dirty oil glands.

How to:
Dispense one to two pumps of lash cleanser onto your eyelid, and with circular motions use a fluffy brush to get in, above and below the lash line. Rinse with water and fan your lashes with a handheld fan or allow to air-dry before brushing. DO NOT use heat! Brush them out with your spoolie to fluff, and your lashes are good to go!

Let’s talk about lash shedding…⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Just like the hair on our heads go through a shedding cycle, so do our lashes. A natural lash shedding with the extensions still attached is completely normal! If you have extensions do not freak out when you see this type of shedding every day. When our lashes reach a certain length they will fall out and be replaced by a new baby lash.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

With or without extensions each eye naturally sheds 1-5 natural lashes a day. This is why fills are necessary! At your fill appointment I will add extensions to new lashes that have grown in or to the lashes that have had an extension pop off. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
