Yesterday I had the opportunity to attend the 8th Annual Rotary Club of Homestead Stone Crab & Seafood Festival. Events like this reminds us how powerful local initiatives can be. The Rotary Club of Homestead Charitable Foundation raises funds to support college scholarships for local youth, the Homestead Soup Kitchen, and other nonprofit organizations serving families in our community.
Beyond the incredible seafood, the festival created a wonderful atmosphere with live music and arts@to enjoy a day with the family. Get your tickets at www.homesteadseafoodfestival.com

At the 2026 Multidisciplinary Radiopharmaceutical Therapy Symposium, one message was clear:
Theranostics is growing fast 🚀. But collaboration and workforce development will determine its future.
Key takeaways:
🔬 Rapid growth in PET imaging
💊 Expanding therapies (still prostate & NET focused)
📈 Promising outcomes, limited long-term data
🤝 Multidisciplinary care is essential
👩⚕️ Major workforce gaps remain
Innovation is not just about new drugs, it’s about building systems that deliver them safely and equitably.

Attended a powerful session at “The Low-Down on Low Dose: The Benign Opportunity”
with Dr. M. Heinrich Seegenschmiedt highlighted decades of data showing that low-dose radiation can be a safe, effective, and evidence-based option for selected benign conditions, when applied thoughtfully and collaboratively.
What stood out most:
• Strong response rates supported by long-term studies
• Minimal side effects
• A renewed opportunity to bridge historical medicine with modern, patient-centered care
This session was a reminder that innovation isn’t always about what’s new, sometimes it’s about re-examining proven approaches with today’s tools and standards.

At , I attended an insightful session sponsored by Varian focused on Low-Dose Radiotherapy (LDRT) for osteoarthritis, a treatment approach with growing evidence and renewed interest.
Key takeaways from the session:
• LDRT is a safe option with minimal side effects, supported by over 100 years of clinical experience
• Data show an efficacy of approximately 70%, now supported by randomized studies
• LDRT does not limit future options, such as surgery or injections
• It offers a meaningful alternative for patients who are not surgical candidates or cannot tolerate medications like NSAIDs
• Functional radiotherapy programs can be clinically and financially beneficial to health systems
These conversations reinforce how radiation oncology continues to expand beyond cancer care, offering innovative, evidence-based solutions that improve quality of life for our patients.
