It’s been a few weeks since our Francis has been gone.

I am grateful for the veterinary clinic taking care of our Francis since he was a puppy. Receiving these items in the mail was completely unexpected but truly appreciated.

There are reminders of him still around the home which I haven’t had the heart to remove yet. Not in a hurry for that though.

It’s been an exhausting last two weeks seeing the signs that our senior pup’s time was approaching soon.

I am grateful to have had this fur baby in our family’s life for the last 12 1/2 years.

Getting a paw print as best as a 60+ lb pup would allow me to with arthritic legs was a bit tricky but accomplished.

He was always near me whenever I was experiencing a painful and fatiguing flare up from Sjogren’s and fibromyalgia. However, when I had reconstruction surgery of the ankle ligaments and tendon last year he didn’t see me for two weeks and not only was he depressed but became ill and couldn’t keep his food down. Our bedroom was a no-pet zone for the sake of minimizing asthma symptoms for me. My husband and daughter asked if our Francis could visit. I definitely missed him during that time and seeing that happy tail wag was healing for both of us.

Blessed to be his mama when he needed taking care of especially these last six months.

Happy new week!

It’s been a busy six months with this senior pup. His health has been declining as well as his eyesight.

He's been a part of our blended family for just over 12 1/2 years. What a great caricature of him from a photo taken a few years ago!

This has been a season of helping him out: hand feeding so he doesn't choke & spit out his food, insulin shots, pain meds, helping him not bump into things, guiding him back inside after he's completed his “business“.
