Sarah is officially on her 9 week leave from the salon. 🤍  thank you to all who stopped in last week/this week to wish her well on her surgery. We appreciate you for understanding- She will see you all very soon!

A quick update for our salon guests:

Sarah is scheduled to have foot surgery on August 27th and will begin her temporary leave from the salon on Wednesday, August 26th. She expects to be away for approximately nine weeks while she recovers.

While Sarah is away, Camrin will be managing the salon and handling all appointments. Because of this, appointment availability will be limited. We will not be able to accommodate all of Sarah’s clients at their usual recurring appointment dates and times, and some appointments may need to be rescheduled or delayed.

We know this may be inconvenient, and we truly appreciate your patience and understanding. We will respond to messages as soon as we can and do our best to help everyone during this transition. We look forward to having Sarah back soon!

Heads up for Nordic Fest attendees! Expect temporary downtown traffic and parking changes July 23–25, including a Heivly Street closure. 🚨🚨 Read on for more details to help us keep the traffic flow as smooth as BUTTER.

The Nordic Fest Board of Directors and the Decorah Police Department are pleased to welcome visitors and residents to Nordic Fest 2026 this Thursday through Saturday, July 23–25. To help ensure the safety and enjoyment of all attendees, several temporary traffic and parking adjustments will be in effect throughout the downtown area during the festival. In addition, Heivly Street remains closed due to ongoing construction, which may impact travel routes near the Fest grounds.

No Parking Areas:
🚧South side of West Main Street, between Grove St. and Mechanic St.
🚧Grove Street, between Main Street and Water Street
🚧Mill Street, between Broadway Street and Water Street
🚧North side of Water Street, between Grove Street and Mill Street

Traffic Restrictions:
🚧Official Nordic Fest grounds include Water Street (Mill Street to State Street), Mill Street (Water Street to Heivly Street), Court Street (Water Street to Main Street), Main Street (Court Street to Winnebago Street), Winnebago Street (Water Street to Main Street) and Washington Street (Water Street to South Alley).
🚧Heivly Street is closed for construction from River Street to State Street and will remain inaccessible throughout Nordic Fest.

Handicap-Accessible Parking
🚗To better accommodate individuals with mobility needs, additional handicap-accessible parking will be available in two key locations:
-- Court Street, between the South Alley and Main Street
-- Winnebago Street, between Main Street and Broadway Street on the West Side

Free Luther College Shuttle Encouraged:
To ease congestion and improve access to the Fest, visitors are encouraged to use the free Luther College shuttle, operating on Friday 9AM - 10PM and Saturday 8AM - 10PM. The shuttle provides a convenient connection between Luther’s campus (with ample free parking) and downtown Fest activities.

The Nordic Fest Board and the Decorah Police Department thank the community for their continued support, flexibility, and cooperation. These measures are designed to help keep the festival area safe and accessible while ensuring that visitors can enjoy one of Decorah’s most cherished annual events.

We lost a very special person in our lives over the weekend. ❤️‍🩹 With that being said, we’ve had to reschedule appointments due to the funeral service and time off to spend with family during this difficult time.

‼️‼️‼️ Also- with that being said, our schedules have gotten even crazier due to some stylists in town moving/retiring and we’re so grateful for all the new clients we’ve received. We use to be a phone call away getting clients in the week of but not anymore. Camrin Chyle is booked 8-10 weeks out and Sarah Finanger Chyle is booked 4-5 weeks out currently. ☺️ Book ahead please please!
