The 2024 Cancer in Iowa Report shows that Iowa has the second-highest and fastest growing rate of new cancer cases in the U.S.

One risk factor that may be contributing to higher cancer rates is alcohol consumption. Alcohol is a known carcinogen.

Drinking alcohol raises your risk of getting several kinds of cancer, including:
Mouth
Throat (pharynx)
Voice box (larynx)
Esophagus
Colon and re**al
Liver
Breast

It’s never too late to reduce your risk of alcohol-related cancer by limiting drinking.
