Warning! Avoid the tendency to overly complain as well as detaching from people who do. Such a tendency is called Chronic Complaining and Stylists who are plagued by it are melodramatic souls who on a daily basis waste enormous energy complaining & blaming others for problems that come with working in a salon. Example: Slow days/gaps in the book are problems that come with growing a clientele, and the worst thing a stylist can do is to sit around complaining it. And here’s why: to waist time complaining about such problems condemns the complainer with getting more of the same. Of course it’s good to talk with encouraging people when you’re frustrated so that they can give you the support you need to take better action. But there’s a big difference between an encouraging conversation and complaining. One leads to explosions in pay and the other leads to staying stuck crap. Did an awesome Retreat at DJ & Co. Augusta. One of the things we talked about was: two ways to see what you do for a living as a stylist: You can see what you do as a career or a job. Seeing it as a career fills you with courageous feelings of self-confidence & empowers you with the creativity to do awesome services on your clients & make big Ching-Ching doing it. Seeing what you do as a job fills you with such crappy feelings of dread that you have all you can do to get out of freaking bed & show up for work never mind get through the day making barely enough to survive. But the biggest difference between the two is what you get: Seeing it as a career gets you the abundant life you’re worthy of having. Seeing it as a job gets you nothing but financial scarcity & emotional misery. The is why JOB is really an acronym for JUST OVER BROKE! It takes great courage to get out of your job & into your career but for those who possess such courage OMG does the freaking dynamite boom. like this for more BGTD!
