Early detection shouldn’t depend on insider knowledge.

09/30/2026

Dense breasts are normal—but knowing your density matters. 💗

About 40% of women over 40 have dense breasts, and you can’t tell by looking or feeling. Only a mammogram can determine breast density.

Why does it matter? Dense breast tissue can hide cancer on a mammogram AND is itself a risk factor for developing breast cancer.

So today, for the 5th anniversary of World Dense Breast Day, I want you to remember this:
✨ Know your density.
✨ Know your risk.
✨ Ask questions.
✨ Advocate for yourself.

A “normal” mammogram doesn’t always tell the whole story. Talk with your healthcare professional about whether additional screening—such as ultrasound, breast MRI, or contrast-enhanced mammography—may be appropriate for YOU.
Knowledge is power. Early detection matters. And sometimes one question can change everything. 🩷

More from my ANA ONO x Dear Body Project interview. 🩷

This journey has taught me so much about what it means to truly come home to my body—to honor her, listen to her, forgive her, and love her through every season.

Stay until the end to hear my Dear Body letter. 🥹

Dear Body, I love you.
Thank you for carrying me.
Thank you for healing.
Thank you for reminding me that softness and strength can exist in the same place.

And I seriously can’t wait for you guys to see the calendar!
📸✨ So much love, beauty, vulnerability, and strength went into this project.

If you could speak to your body with nothing but love and gratitude today… what would you say to your body today?💕✨

Throwback to a little moment from my interview at the Dear Body Project with BRCA Strong. 💕✨

There was something so powerful about stepping in front of the camera and simply allowing myself to feel hopeful, beautiful, seen, and inspired—exactly as I am.

The Dear Body Project is a beautiful reminder that our bodies hold stories of courage, transformation, healing, and so much life. I’m incredibly grateful to have been part of it, and I cannot wait to see the final calendar! 🥹📸💗

And since we’re putting it out into the universe… who thinks I should be featured for the month of MARCH?! ♓️💕 Pisces season, baby! 👀

Some days, when my energy is low and I feel a little out of sorts, I find myself thinking back to some of the most inspiring people I’ve met along the way.

Ibu Tatik is one of them. 🤍

I met her in Bali, where she is the wife of the head of the local Subak, Bali’s centuries-old community-based irrigation system. But what I remember most isn’t a title—it’s her spirit.

Her calming presence. Her beautiful voice, always full of song. Her infectious laughter. And her laughing yoga that could somehow turn even the heaviest moment into something lighter.

Day after day, she also gives her time to help feed local schoolchildren—a quiet act of service that says so much about the kind of woman she is.

I will always remember one of the lessons she shared with me:

We all experience pain.
We all walk through darkness.
But sometimes, laughter can be a doorway back to the light.

A release.
A reminder to breathe.
A reminder that joy can still exist, even in the middle of hard things.

On days like today, I carry that lesson with me.

Thank you, Ibu Tatik, for reminding me that healing doesn’t always have to be loud or complicated. Sometimes it sounds like a song, feels like community, and begins with a laugh. 🌿🤍
