UPDATE: The closure will now take place Monday (night) July 22, 2024, Tuesday (night) July 23, and Wednesday (night) July 24, 2024 between the hours of 9 pm to 5 am for les disruption to traffic.

I-45 CLOSURE 🚧

Heads up, Dickinson! ⚠️ Progress on the I-45 expansion project between FM 517 to FM 1764 in Galveston County continues as TXDOT sets the new bridge deck beams for the future bridge over FM 517. In order to complete this work, the FM 517 intersection will be closed for east bound and west bound traffic Saturday July 20 and Sunday July 21 between 7 am and 5 pm.

➡️The detour for the total closure for the eastbound traffic of FM 517 will be:
Turn right at the intersection of FM 517 and the South Bound Frontage Road. Continue south on the South Bound Frontage Road, turn right onto Hughes Road and continue over the Hughes Road overpass. At the end of the bridge turn right to the North Bound Frontage Road. Turn right and take the North Bound Frontage Road back to the FM 517 intersection.

➡️The detour for the total closure for the westbound traffic of FM 517 will be:
Turn right at the intersection of FM 517 and the North Bound Frontage Road of I-45. Continue north on the North Bound Frontage Road and then use the North Bound to South Bound U-turn at FM 646. Continue on the South Bound Frontage Road to FM 517.

Crews will also be closing two north bound lanes for the beams to be unloaded from. Off duty police will be on site to assist with the traffic control. Please plan ahead for traffic this weekend as this work is completed.
