This could relate to so many situations that come up at the salon too.
A lot of transitions can be hard for kids, especially when they’re being asked to stop something they’re enjoying and move on to something else. That could mean:
1. Going into the salon
2. Leaving the play area
3. Turning off the TV
4. Getting out of the cutting chair or vehicle
5. Most importantly, letting them know when they may be able to get back to the activity they wanted to continue
I’ve personally watched a child visibly relax and calmly put everything back where it belongs after hearing their parent book their next appointment right in front of them. In that moment, they feel heard, and they can see that the adult is already following through on what was promised.
Sometimes giving a child a clear idea of what comes next — and when they can return to something they enjoy — can make the transition so much easier.

That sounds like a deal. I’d never pass up a breakfast taco/burrito or iced coffee.. I’d drive her to school just to kill 2 birds with 1 stone, any day!
As a parent, I’m convinced schools are sitting on an untapped revenue stream.
Forget wrapping paper. Forget cookie dough.
Forget sending my kid home with a catalog containing 5 dozen things nobody wants or needs.
Just put somebody in the pickup line with a cooler of iced coffee.
You’ve already got hundreds of parents trapped in their cars, inching forward at roughly the speed of continental drift. Half of them came straight from work.
The other half are mentally calculating whether they have enough time to make dinner before somebody has to be at practice.
That is not a pickup line.
That is a captive market.
$5 iced coffee.
Add another dollar if you’re more than 12 cars from the front.
Make it $8 on the first week of school.
I teach economics. Supply and demand has never been more obvious.
Honestly, the PTO could probably fund the entire spring carnival by Thursday.
And if somebody starts selling breakfast tacos in the morning drop-off line, it’s over.
That school is getting a new scoreboard.
