A lot of brunette clients seek change but still want to feel like a brunette when the leave the salon. Even with red shades in our inspiration picture, brown was the dominant color we wanted to see 🀎

This brown-red was completed using hilift color and root melted with shades eq 4N and global gloss of 5N and a dash of 4CB β˜€οΈ

Curly cuts are designed with your natural texture in mind 🀍

Yesβ€”you can blow dry a curly cut with a round brush for a smoother, voluminous look. But going in with a flat iron to make it pin-straight? That’s where things can look a little off.

Curly cuts are shaped curl-by-curl, meaning they’re intentionally asymmetrical to enhance movement and definition when worn natural. When you flat iron it super straight, that custom shape can show up as uneven or choppyβ€”because it wasn’t meant to lay that way.

Think of it this way:
✨ Blowout = soft, flexible, still works with the shape
✨ Flat iron = removes the curl pattern the cut was built for

Your cut isn’t wrongβ€”it’s just doing exactly what it was designed to do πŸ’β€β™€οΈ

Chestnut brown 🌰

My favorite way to achieve reds is to use a high lift color and then deposit the desired tone.

Sometimes the key to healthy hair is to pause lightening to avoid further damage.

My client has come a long way with her hair. We first met in 2024 and her hair had been severely compromised. The solution? No bleach work, just worked with the base she had. The goal was always to add lighter pieces, but to avoid further breakage, we paused bleach work and had a consistent scheduled of root retouches. Finally, over a year later, we booked her lived in balayage appointment and gave her the dimension she was looking for.

Handy dandy products:

Brunette transformations will always be my favorite πŸ»πŸ€ŽπŸ‘œ

My lovely client and I had only been doing haircuts and we finally took the plunge together to work on this rich brunette transformation πŸ–€

For this look, we used a balayage ombre technique with lightener, and applied permanent color in a level 4 in between to deepen her base. πŸ™‚β€β†•οΈ
