This phase of my life at 30 WEEKS pregnant have been eye-opening 👀 . It was the first time that I have to start paying very close attention to what my body wants and adjusting exercises if I am going to continue to train.
Today, I hit my new PR on deadlift at 165x8. I had to raise the bar due to my growing belly a tad. But you just roll with it! 🎉
The training session before this, I couldn’t go as heavy as last week where I PRed my back squat. 😑 This week I had to take extra sets to warm-up, intersperse foam rolling on my glutes and sacrum, and finish my top set at a much lower weight than before.
I would be lying if I said my ego wasn’t shaken a bit. 😡🥺But taking the time to remember what my intention is for training helpful me reframe.😊
Choosing to train while pregnant is a choice but also a gift. Some women don’t feel good for the entire 40 weeks. Some women have to be on bed rest due to gestational diabetes, or preeclampsia. So I am grateful 🙏🏻 that my body and physiology has felt overall great, and I can train even now in my third trimester.
My why is to have a healthy strong baby, an easier, faster delivery, and to reduce recovery time. Anything can happen while in labor, and I may have to unexpectedly have a C-section. But I am doing my best to control what I can and hope for the best for the things I can’t control.
To all my pregnant momma’s out there, or who plan on being pregnant in the future. Strength training makes these trimesters doable.

The worst 4 mile run of my life😰 turned into one of the best surprises🤰
We are officially joining the Covid cliché and we couldn’t be happier❤️❤️❤️🥰
Although with gyms shutting down, this is not what I imagined experiencing my first pregnancy to be like.
But we are doing all the things within our control to bring a healthy baby of Generation C into the 🌎.
Baby 🍼 Tew-ski will come out of quarantine January 17, 2021! @ Jersey City, New Jersey

LOOK AT ME!!!
Opinions and assumptions aside, what do you think when first see my face?
Probably that I am a women and that I am white.
When I grew up, I was told that my family came from all over Western Europe, but mostly from Ireland 🇮🇪 and Northern Italy 🇮🇹 .
I felt lucky because I tanned and my brother’s fair skin burned
In 2016 I took the 23 & Me DNA 🧬 test that changed my life.
Not only did it tell me about my health, and fun facts that made me laugh like…
I have 70% more Neanderthal DNA then most customers
I sneeze in the sunlight 🤧☀️
My p*e smells if I eat asparagus
I was supposed to be 👁 brown eyed
I was supposed to not have dimples
I was supposed to have 👩🏼 light hair instead of dark etc
The list of information goes on and on
But the most important fact apart from my health was information of where I came from.
Yes I came from western Europe, but my ancestors also came from Northern Africa and the Middle East.
Many of us come from the same genetic pool that stems from the same maternal and paternal haplogroup.
Its just like Jane Elliot says, there are not many races but the HUMAN RACE! ❤️
I can trace my family lineage only so far, but it comes from an ever evolving gene pool that has since transformed, mutated, migrated, and settled into new forms and new places.
Racism and white supremacy is fundamentally wrong and flawed in so many ways. ❌❌❌
Because the birth of civilization has been said that it came from Africa and Homo sapiens migrated over time and our skin and facial features transformed based on the lands we inhabited for hundreds and thousands of years.
Let that sink in for a minute…
You are a mutation. Your hair, your skin, eye color, body shape etc.
We may look different. Our skin may have more or less melanin then our friends and fellow humans.
But our genetic history has WAY MORE to say about how we are more tightly intertwined, like the original DNA we came from. 🤝🧬❤️
I want all the white supremacists to get a DNA test to know where they originally came from. It isn’t America, it isn’t just Europe, its goes way back to Africa.

EVERYONE MEET CJ BLACKMAN!
He is from Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹 but came to the Bay Area when he was young.
He has a passion for martial arts, nutrition, dancing, reading, and traveling.
We met in 2011 when I moved to SF🌉 and started working for Equinox Fitness.
Cj was one of the first friends I made moving from Indy to the West Coast.
I will never forget our first time hanging out outside of work. We got food after a Kettlebell cert.
That was the first time I saw how much this man could eat! It was impressive and I was jealous!🤯
He was a major inspiration to me.
He is kind and 🧠 .
Is away educating himself on health and wellness🤓
Is extremely driven and one of the hardest workers I know🤨
Will listen to you when you have a problem🤔
Is the BEST dancing partner🕺🏿
Had dreams and aspirations of being a professional fighter and is making his dream a reality.🥊🥋
Will always have a solution or a resource is you have a question or need advice.🧩
You can alway count of him to make you laugh.😹
Is loyal to his friends and family always!
I could go on and on about what a great man he is.
Even though I moved away, we always try to meet up when he comes to visit or keep in touch. 💛🧡💚
CJ is like a brother to me. I have so much love and respect for him. Because he is a good man down to his very core.💫
