Second Spring Hormone and Scalp Studio
Menopause hair & scalp wellness—because your second spring can be messy and beautiful. 🌸 Hi, I'm Kerri, your local hair health advocate!
At HAIR360, I combine my expertise as a certified Trichologist with a passion for helping people feel their best. Let's work together to achieve your hair goals.
Not every hair change starts with shedding. 👀
Sometimes strands grow back finer first, and your mirror can miss it. Under the trichoscope, it's easier to see.
Try this at home: take a monthly photo of your part, in the same light and at the same angle.
Curious what your follicles are doing? DM me "LOOK" for a closer view.

Text Back Tuesday: Is something crawling on your scalp—or does it just feel that way? 🕷️
Have you ever been going about your day, suddenly felt a prickly or crawling sensation on your scalp, and wondered what on earth was going on?
It can feel unsettling—and spooky season gives the imagination plenty to work with! Sometimes people describe this sensation as formication, a term for feeling as though something is crawling on or under the skin. There can be different reasons for it, so it’s not possible to tell the cause from the sensation alone. Hormone changes and scalp dryness or irritation may be part of the picture for some people.
A few gentle things to try: use lukewarm water, avoid scratching with your nails, and choose a shampoo that doesn’t leave your scalp feeling tight or irritated.
If the sensation is new, persistent, painful, or comes with visible changes to your scalp, check in with a healthcare professional.
Have you felt the “phantom crawl”? Drop a 🕷️ in the comments—or send me a DM with RELIEF if you’d like to talk about scalp care.
Shedding feels sudden, but it usually started months ago.
Your scalp keeps a record of your body‘s hormonal and stress history. Save this for your next wash they scare and message me if it sounds like you.🕸️
There is literally no discreet way to handle this face. 😭👂😂
You’re out in public, minding your business, and out of nowhere it feels like an invisible ant circus set up camp inside your ear canal.
Is it a stray hair? Did a bug fly in? Or are your hormones just being dramatic again?
Here’s the deal: declining estrogen dries out our mucous membranes and skin barriers—including the delicate skin lining your ear canals. That micro-dryness makes your sensory nerves misfire, triggering that maddening, deep-down tickle that makes you want to dig with a car key (please don’t!).
You’re not crazy, friend. Your ears are just parched and throwing a midlife tantrum.
Drop a comment below: have you had the menopause ear itch, or what’s the weirdest symptom your body has surprised you with lately? 👇✨
Okay, can we please talk about this crazy ear-itching thing going on with us right now?! 😂👂
You’re just minding your own business—grocery shopping, working, doing your thing—and all of a sudden, your ear starts itching so violently from the inside out that you want to crawl out of your skin. It feels like poison ivy, or like someone is inside your ear canal tickling you with a feather!
And let’s be honest: there is zero discreet way to scratch your ear when that happens. You end up making that funny face and twisting your ear around looking completely unhinged in public.
Turns out, you haven’t lost your mind and nothing flew in your ear. When our estrogen levels drop during perimenopause and menopause, our skin’s natural lipid barrier thins out. That includes the sensitive, delicate skin lining your ear canals! Add in hyper-reactive nerves and histamine flare-ups, and suddenly your ears feel like an active construction site.
Whatever you do, resist the urge to go digging in there with keys, bobby pins, or anything sharp—it only makes the irritation worse.
Tell me in the comments: have you dealt with this crazy ear itch, or what’s another weird midlife symptom that has caught you off guard? 👇

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month AND Menopause Awareness Month.
While we're reminding you to schedule your mammogram and do your breast self-exams, let's also talk about another skin surface you might be overlooking: your scalp. Swipe through this month's Manual for what to watch for and what to do. Check the girls. Check the roots. Both matter. 💗

Text Back Tuesday: When your scalp turns on the garden hose 📱🚿
I just looked down at my phone to another classic client text:
“Why does my actual scalp hurt like a bruise… and why did the back of my neck just get soaked out of nowhere?! I’m sitting in air conditioning, my shirt is dry, and my blowout was ruined in thirty seconds flat!”
First of all: take a deep breath. You are not losing your mind, and you haven’t suddenly developed an allergy to your own hair.
Welcome to the biological plot twist of your Second Spring.
When estrogen and progesterone fluctuate, our body's internal thermostat (the hypothalamus) gets a little dramatic. Instead of a full-body hot flash, many of us experience what clinicians call localized craniofacial sweating. Your arms are bone dry, but your hairline looks like you just ran a 5K in July.
Then comes the kicker: your scalp is not only sweaty, but your roots actually ache to the touch. That tenderness has a clinical name too—trichodynia. When hormones drop, inflammation surges around the hair follicle, and the tiny arrector pili muscles around each hair strand physically hold tension. Your hair literally feels bruised.
Between sweating through your hairline and nursing tender roots, your scalp is screaming that it’s overstimulated.
And honestly? It makes you think about a much deeper soreness.
For 20 or 30 years, we’ve carried the invisible stuff: remembering everyone’s doctor appointments, managing the emotional weather of the entire household, and smiling through the chaos. If your follicles can ache just from holding onto hair, imagine what your nervous system feels like holding everybody else’s expectations.
Your body isn't broken. It’s simply doing big, transformative work and asking you to lighten the load.
So let’s text back today:
1️⃣ Keep cold water and a mini fan nearby when the hairline flash strikes.
2️⃣ Take down the tight ponytail or claw clip—give those roots some slack!
3️⃣ Drop it in the comments: What is one unspoken expectation you’ve been carrying that your body is telling you it’s too exhausted to hold anymore?
Take the weight off your shoulders today. I’m reading every single reply. 💜

Drenched hairline one minute… rebel wire hairs the next. Welcome to midlife hair! 😂✨
If you’ve been feeling like your scalp has developed a split personality lately, you are not imagining it.
One minute, your internal thermostat goes haywire and your hairline is completely soaked from a head-only hot flash (ruining a good hair day in about thirty seconds flat).
Then you dry off, look in the mirror, and spot a rogue strand sticking straight up at your part that feels like a bent piece of copper wire.
Here is what is actually going on:
When estrogen shifts in perimenopause and menopause, our temperature regulation gets dramatic, causing sudden localized sweating. At the exact same time, lower natural oils leave our hair drier, and shifting hormone levels can slightly change the physical shape of the follicle pore. The hair growing through that altered pore comes out with a coarse, wiry, zigzag texture that completely refuses to cooperate.
What you can do about it:
Keep cool water or a personal fan handy, and pat—don't rub—your hairline dry.
Step away from the tweezers! Plucking rebel hairs damages the follicle. Instead, smooth a tiny drop of hair oil or leave-in conditioner over it to soften the texture.
Feed your follicles from within with steady hydration and healthy dietary fats.
And honestly? Maybe that stubborn wire hair has the right idea.
How often do we bend over backward to please everyone else, saying yes when we’re exhausted and over-explaining our boundaries?
Take a cue from that rebel strand this week: stand your ground, protect your peace, and give an unapologetic “no” to what drains you.
Have you experienced the soaked hairline, the rebel hair—or both at the same time? Drop your stories below! 👇
This week, I’m changing things up a little. No video—just a quiet moment to share with you.
This morning, I stepped outside after the rain and enjoyed the cool air. The sky was still full of clouds, and the moon was shining through so beautifully. 🌙☁️
At 61, I’ve learned to appreciate these simple moments—the quiet of an early morning, the freshness after a storm, and the beauty right above me.
No big plans. No rushing. No trying to check ten things off the list before breakfast.
Just me, standing outside, taking a deep breath, enjoying the coolness, and taking in the view. ✨
Maybe that’s part of becoming your Second Spring, too.
Not becoming someone new—but learning to slow down, notice the little things, and appreciate the woman you already are.
I hope you find a quiet moment for yourself today. 💜
