Years ago, a client invited me to Mexico for their wedding. At first, I thought I was simply being invited as a guest. Later, they explained they actually wanted me to do everyone’s hair for the wedding.

That’s when I had to explain something many people don’t think about.

When a hairstylist travels for work, we’re not just packing a suitcase.

We’re closing our business for days.
We’re losing income from clients we would normally be serving.
We’re arranging childcare.
We’re traveling with professional tools, products, and equipment.
We’re investing our time long before we ever style the first client.
