Today, I am away from the chair and the salon, and I’m embracing a day of Sabbath.

I’ll be spending the day resting, working on a few custom paintings, and making memories with my family.

Twelve years ago, I chose this career because I thought it would be a simple way to make a living.

Looking back now, I smile because I couldn't have been more wrong. What many people see is a few hours behind the chair. What they don't see are the early mornings, late nights, bookkeeping, inventory, marketing, social media, continuing education, taxes, scheduling, rescheduling, answering messages after hours, laundry, cleaning, ordering products, and wearing what feels like a dozen different hats - all while trying to build a business that serves people well.

Being a hairstylist isn't a 9-5. It's often a lifestyle. The work doesn't end when the last client leaves. There are emails to answer, content to create, appointments to prepare for, finances to manage, and plans to make long after the salon lights are turned off.

There are hard days. There are seasons of uncertainty. There are moments when I wonder if I'm doing enough.

But if you asked me today whether I'd choose this career again...

Without hesitation, my answer is yes. Because this career has given me something I never expected. It's given me the opportunity to build a life that allows me to spend precious time with my little one while still pursuing a calling I love.

It's given me the privilege of walking alongside incredible women through weddings, new babies, career changes, loss, celebrations, fresh starts, and everything in between.

It's reminded me that hair is rarely just hair. It's confidence. It's healing. It's conversation. It's a safe place to exhale.

Most importantly, it's given me the opportunity to glorify God through the work of my hands - to love people well, to listen intentionally, and to remind each woman who sits in my chair that she is seen, valued, and deeply loved.

To every client who has trusted me, supported my small business, referred a friend, or simply chosen my chair...
