🌿 Herb of the Day: Marshmallow Root
And no, I'm not talking about the marshmallows in your hot chocolate. 😂🌿

Marshmallow root comes from the Althaea officinalis plant and has been used in traditional herbal preparations for centuries.

One of the things that makes the root interesting is its mucilage—a plant substance that becomes slippery and gel-like when mixed with water. That's one reason marshmallow root has traditionally been prepared in teas, infusions and other herbal preparations.

Fun fact: the sweet marshmallow we know today actually traces its history back to preparations made using the marshmallow plant. Modern marshmallows generally don't contain the root anymore. 👀

🌿 Herb of the Day: Peppermint

You probably know the smell before you even see the plant. 😂🌿

Peppermint is an aromatic member of the mint family known for its naturally cooling sensation and unmistakable fresh scent.
It has a long history of culinary and traditional herbal use and is commonly enjoyed in teas. It's also one of the herbs I grow, harvest and dry myself. 💚

And if you've ever grown mint, you already know she has absolutely no respect for personal space. 😂 Give her somewhere to grow and she will make herself at home.
