My massages are magical for sure, but there’s a limit to what we can heal with such a narrow focus. Now, I’m not discounting somatic therapies. Bodywork can definitely be an emotional experience! As you drift into a parasympathetic state, mental activity becomes more subconscious, and that can lead to feelings bubbling to the surface that you may not have been conscious of before. But we’re not “healing” PTSD or traumatic experiences on the massage table. We can find some relief from the symptoms of our trauma, yes, but psychological problems require psychological solutions and there are no shortcuts. You have to do the work! And that’s what is often lurking behind the desire “to be fixed”. It’s the subconscious again trying to protect you from pain. But in order to heal, you have to go through the pain. There is no way around. A lot of this discussion lands outside my scope of practice as a massage therapist, but I’m speaking from life experience here. Being married to a trauma therapist for 20 years has taught me a lot about myself and not all of it pleasant. But that’s reality, first we do the hard things, and then we get a cookie. 😊
When you’re ready to stop chasing comfort and dive in to creating a better you, my wife Holistic_Therapist trained in EMDR and clinical hypnosis can help!
Is this the week you’re going to do something about that nagging shoulder pain?!
The best therapeutic outcomes involve a combination of manual therapy (massage) and exercise. As a massage therapist and movement specialist, I can give you both! It’s just up to you to decide it’s time to take action.

As the temps begin to dip, it reminds me that it’s time to dust off the hot stones. I had taken them off the menu for summertime because no one wants a hot stone massage when it’s 90 degrees outside. But now everyone is coming in wearing their cozy hoodies and I think it’s a perfect time to start heating things up!
There is a strong correlation between posture and pain, and it’s not hard to see why. Posture is just static form. When we alter our form for certain exercises, we alter which muscles are recruited more heavily. Posture is no different except the muscle activation is isometric. Just like working on better form for your deadlifts allows you to lift more weight without pain, working on your posture will help alleviate that chronic joint pain. Not sure what exercises to do to help your posture? Just ask!!
I ❤️ doing the longer sessions and giving the whole body the attention it deserves. Sometimes that’s not what the patient needs. The 60 minute session is perfect for addressing specific issues, or for general relaxation. Full body, deep tissue work? You’re gonna want the 2hr sesh! ✌🏼
If this popped up on your feed, it’s because our AI robot overlords know you’ve been stressed and missing human connection. And really, who knows you better than that device in your pocket reading your thoughts. Jk 😉…. or am I?! 😂
There are appointments open Th/Sa/Su this week and there’s even a link in my bio for you to book your connection and relaxation session this week.
I look forward to seeing you!
Holistic_Therapist Our marriage is “all grown up” today. 18 years since our beautiful wedding, so many adventures in between, and so many more to come!
Love you foreva!! ❤️😘
The garage is still full of boxes from our move, but I found my barbell and some plates amidst the chaos and took them out in our beautiful new backyard.
I was multitasking getting some sets in while I dismantle the king size box spring that we couldn’t get up the stairs. I’m off my normal fitness routine and that’s totally ok. Just another type of flexibility to be able to change it up and go with the flow. Hope y’all are enjoying this great weather today and getting some sun on your faces. Love yas! ❤️
The rotator cuff is made up of four muscles whose tendons encapsulate the ball and socket (glenohumeral) joint.
Yes, they rotate the shoulder, but just about every muscle that attaches to the shoulder has some effect on rotation. And many of them are much larger and stronger muscle groups than these tiny muscles that make up the joint capsule. This is why it’s so important to work on balancing the shoulder musculature. As you probably already know, rotator cuff tears are a very common problem as they tend to go undertrained, and we also tend to develop overactivity in the bigger muscle groups that pull the shoulders forward. It may not be the most comfortable area to work on but a little discomfort now is better than surgery later! 😉
