After a thorough shampoo and a good scalp scrub, every one of her starter locs is still in place! Proper parting, the right loc-to-part ratio, and choosing a starter method that works with the client’s hair texture all help create a foundation that can withstand regular cleansing.

Starter locs still need clean hair and a healthy scalp—don’t be afraid to wash them! Some frizz is completely normal, but a properly installed foundation helps minimize excessive unraveling and sets the tone for healthy, strong locs.
