Some kids jump out of the car at a crowded summer event and hit the ground running. 🏃 And some kids…don’t.
They may hang back, cover their ears, or ask to leave five minutes after you arrived. They may melt down in the parking lot on the way home even though nothing obviously went wrong. And as a parent, it can be really hard to know what you’re supposed to do with that. 🫶🏻
If your child consistently struggles in loud, busy, or unpredictable environments - fireworks, festivals, crowded pools, family gatherings - it’s worth understanding what’s actually happening under the surface.
Their nervous system is taking in every single input in that environment at once. The noise, the crowds, the heat, the smells, the unexpected sounds, the change in routine. For a child whose nervous system is already working hard to regulate, that amount of input can push them past their threshold fast.
That can look like:
shutting down, going quiet, or wanting to hide
a meltdown that seems completely out of proportion to what happened
clinging, whining, or suddenly acting much younger than their age
complaining of a stomachache or headache with no obvious cause
being completely wired and impossible to settle once you’re finally home
A dysregulated nervous system has a much smaller window of tolerance before it hits its limit. And summer - with all its wonderful chaos - has a way of finding that limit repeatedly. 🤿
Chiropractic care helps expand that window by supporting how well the nervous system processes and organizes incoming input.
When communication between the brain and the body is happening at an optimal level, kids are generally able to handle more before they hit their threshold - and come back down faster when they do!

This crew is my whole heart. 🤍
Two weeks in Italy reminded me why I do what I do and who I do it for.
I talk a lot about rest, nervous system health, and taking care of yourself as a mom. But the truth is, I needed this reminder too.
If you’ve ever felt guilty for stepping away from work, from the grind, from the constant output this one’s for you. You are a better mom, partner, and person when you fill your own cup.
Grateful for every moment of this trip. And grateful to be back doing what I love. ❤️

The vagus nerve is one of the most important communication pathways in the body. 🧠
It begins in the brainstem and travels through the neck, chest, and abdomen, sending signals to organs like the heart, lungs, your gut, and more along the way.
It’s the main highway of your parasympathetic nervous system. The “rest and digest” side. The part of you that’s supposed to help you wind down, recover, digest your food, sleep deeply, and feel settled in your own body. 💤
When vagal function isn’t working as efficiently as it should, the effects can show up in a number of different ways:
• A heart that seems to race for no obvious reason
• Digestion that feels unpredictable from one week to the next
• Waking up tired even when you spent plenty of time in bed
• Anxiety that feels disproportionate to what’s actually happening in your life
• Inflammation that settles down for a while, only to flare up again
As the vagus nerve travels from the brainstem into the rest of the body, it passes through the upper cervical region at the base of the skull. Tension, misalignment, or interference in that area can affect the environment surrounding the nerve and how efficiently the nervous system is able to communicate.
This is one of the reasons nervous system-focused chiropractic care can have such a wide-reaching impact.
When that upper cervical area is moving well and functioning properly, the vagus nerve has a better environment to function from, helping support the body’s ability to recover from stress, regulate inflammation, support digestion, and shift more easily between activation and genuine rest. ✨
Taking pauses and finding moments to reset can be so valuable. Breaking patterns where we are in constant output mode is such a great reminder and so beneficial. Italy right me a lot these past two weeks!
Save for your own reminder and share with a friend!

The 4th of July weekend is over and somehow…you feel worse than before it started. 🤦🏼♀️ And, it’s because anything went wrong - quite the opposite!
You spent time with people you love, stayed up later than usual, enjoyed good food, and made some great memories. And now it’s Monday and your body feels like it got hit by a truck. 🥴
That post-holiday slump is something we see all the time, and it often has less to do with what you did and more to do with how much your body had to adapt over a short period of time.
A few days of later nights, travel, packed schedules, loud environments, and a break from your normal routine can be a lot for the nervous system to process.
Maybe it looks more like:
• Needing three cups of coffee just to feel halfway awake
• Looking at your to-do list and feeling immediately overwhelmed
• Feeling strangely emotional, impatient, or short-tempered with your family
• Wondering why you feel exhausted after a weekend that was supposed to be fun
• Having a hard time getting back into your normal routine
After a busy weekend, your nervous system has to shift gears again. Instead of adapting to crowds, travel, late nights, and constant activity, it has to settle back into work schedules, responsibilities, and normal routines.
Chiropractic adjustments help improve communication between the brain and body by reducing interference within the nervous system. When that communication is working well, your body is generally better able to respond to stress, recover from change, and maintain balance through all the demands of everyday life. ✨

The skin and nervous system are closely linked from the very beginning of development. Both develop from the same embryonic tissue, which means they share a relationship that continues throughout life. 🤝
When the nervous system is under consistent stress, the body releases inflammatory signals that directly affect the skin. Cortisol and other stress hormones influence oil production, skin barrier function, and how the immune system responds to triggers. That can show up as breakouts that flare during stressful periods, eczema or psoriasis that worsens when life gets overwhelming, or skin that feels more reactive and sensitive than it used to. 😬
For many people this creates a frustrating cycle - the skin reacts, which creates more stress, which makes the skin react more. Addressing only the surface without looking at what’s driving it rarely breaks that cycle for good.
This is why supporting the nervous system can be such an unexpected but meaningful piece of the skin health conversation. ✨ When the body is spending less time in a chronic stress state, inflammatory signals quiet down, hormone levels stabilize, and the skin often reflects that shift in ways that topical products alone never quite manage.
Chiropractic care supports nervous system regulation - helping your body spend more time in a state where healing, restoration, and balance can actually happen. 👏🏼
Sometimes the clearest skin starts with the calmest nervous system!

If your energy feels unpredictable, your mood has been harder to manage, your sleep is off, and your cycle feels like it has a mind of its own - that’s your body trying to tell you it’s running on more than it can comfortably manage right now.
The nervous system is responsible for coordinating hormone balance alongside sleep, stress response, digestion, immune function, and countless other processes at the same time.
When the nervous system stays under chronic demand for too long, your body starts making tradeoffs. And hormone balance is often one of the first things to feel it.
It tends to build gradually, and it usually looks something like this:
🛏️ disrupted sleep patterns
😔 chronic emotional stress
🪑 long periods of inactivity
🍽️ skipping meals regularly
📺 minimal natural light
🧪 cumulative toxic load
Most of the time, these patterns build quietly during seasons where the body is being asked to do more without enough opportunity to recover.
This is where chiropractic care comes in…not as a hormone treatment, but as nervous system support! When the nervous system is functioning more efficiently and your system has the capacity to shift between demand and recovery, hormone balance has a much better environment to thrive in.
Everything from your energy to your mood to your cycle tends to feel more like itself when the foundation underneath it is finally supported. ✨
