Watching you chase your dreams is one of the greatest gifts of my life.
Not because it’s easy (it’s not), but because you keep showing up anyway, brave, determined, and completely yourself.
You’re building something real, one step at a time, and I hope you never forget how powerful that is.
I’m so proud of you… not just for what you’re achieving, but for who you are becoming along the way.
Keep going, baby girl. The world is waiting for you.

I know the updates stopped abruptly, and I’m so sorry for the worry that caused. I’ve gotten so many messages and calls, and I just haven’t had the emotional capacity to respond. The truth behind the silence is incredibly hard.
For the past year, we listened to a doctor who told us to “wait… and wait… and wait.” And we trusted him. We didn’t know any different. But as time went on, we started digging, learning, researching — and realizing that there was a curative option that was never presented to us. When we found it, we fought hard for it. We believed in it. And the surgeon who met Chris agreed and pushed quickly to try and get us that chance.
But when they went in, the curative window had already closed. They were only able to remove one tumor. The other was just 4 millimeters too large — and six weeks ago, it was small enough to remove. After a year of delays, that difference haunts us.
It’s devastating to carry the weight of “what could have been” simply because we trusted a team that never told us there were other options.
Right now, we’re praying chemo can shrink what’s left enough for the surgeon to try again. We’re hoping it doesn’t grow out of control in the meantime. We’re scared, heartbroken, overwhelmed, and trying to take things one hour at a time.
I’ll eventually blog this chapter, because writing is how I make sense of things. But right now, it’s still too raw — too much pain and too many tears.
Thank you to everyone who has reached out. We feel your love more than you know. Please forgive the silence; we’re just trying to breathe through all of this.
Update:
While Chris was recovering from his biopsy, his doctor pulled me aside. She told me they’d already found malignant cells — confirmation the tumor is cancer.
Even though we’ve been bracing for this, hearing the words still felt like a knife to the heart. When I told Chris, his reaction said it all, anger, sadness. We cried together in the parking lot, realizing we’re about to do this all over again.
This round will be more aggressive, and that’s scary, especially since his body didn’t handle chemo well last time. But as crazy as it sounds, our hope is that they let him fight, that they go all in instead of holding back.
We’re scared, we’re heartbroken, but we’re still hopeful.

One thing my family embraces is the sound of change. No matter how hard, no matter how heartbreaking, change is inevitable—and we grow through it. Every shift this summer and into the school year has only drawn us closer and made us more excited for the future. We choose to live with courage.

Just a girl and her dad, walking the fairways together. Golf was the excuse… love was the real game.

Here with our girl at college Watching The Movement on Sunday and, most importantly, giving Athena these precious moments with Chris. Life is short and fragile, and time together means everything.

Our tennis family officially turned into a Pickleball crew to celebrate Arturo’s birthday—and I’ve gotta say, we’re not half bad! Honestly, Pickleball is way easier than tennis. If you think otherwise, you’re just fooling yourself. The only hard part is figuring out the scoring. Might just ditch tennis altogether and go pro! Happy Birthday, Arturo!
