“300lb Kendra could never.”
That’s what I used to say to myself when I was getting discouraged during a workout. I used to think “well I should be proud because I’m so much better than I was before. I’m so much better than HER.”
And it’s not untrue. I am better than I was before… I can run longer, lift heavier, jump higher.
But it’s not in spite of her.
It’s because of her.
Today at CrossFit I was struggling- the workout was probably more mentally taxing for me than anything, the whole class from start to finish was a bunch of movements that aren’t my strongest suits. I started to chant that mantra in my head: 300lb Kendra could never, she wouldn’t even be here, she couldn’t even do one round much less 5…
and then as I started running the 200m for the 4th round, I heard God say to me, “It’s BECAUSE of her you are here. Respect her, honor her.”
And it all changed.
I started crying as I was running, and I realized that the absolute COURAGE it took for 300lb me to take a step towards a better life was the ONLY reason I was here.
I ran into the gym and wrote 300 on the ground in front of me in chalk, because she deserved a spot on the floor.
I deserved a spot on the floor.
I finished the workout, dead last. Over the time cap. It was ugly, but it was done.
And it wasn’t “300lb Kendra could never.”
It was “300lb Kendra just fu***ng DID.”

Starting in September, I will be adjusting my hours at the salon in an effort be more present at home m, in my most important job.

Our girls are growing faster than we can keep up, and I don’t want to miss these days while we are in them. We all know how quickly they go. ❤️

I wrestled with this decision for a long time because I know this change will limit my evening availability, and that means I may no longer be able to accommodate some of my clients. If my new hours no longer work for your schedule, please reach out. I’ll be happy to match you with one of my very talented coworkers who I trust will take great care of you.

While I will genuinely miss having you in my chair, I completely understand if this shift needs to happen. More than anything, I want you to continue receiving great care, even if that means it isn’t with me.

While this season means making a little more room for home, it also means there’s a little more room for some new ideas to bloom! 🔥🌸 I can’t wait to share more with you soon.

As always, thank you for your continued support both behind the chair and in life. Some of you have seen me through many different seasons of this journey- I am forever grateful for everything. It was never just about the hair.🤍
