Two years ago I stopped consistently working out… and honestly, life had a lot to do with it.
I take responsibility for stepping away, but the biggest thing, I feel, is that I didn’t realize the emotional toll it would take to walk the end of life road with my dad. Moving him into memory care and then later saying goodbye when he went to be with Jesus took more out of me than I expected. And truthfully, I wouldn’t change that time for anything. I’m so grateful I was able to walk that season with him. After that, life just kept happening, and I wasn’t in the space to make moving my body a priority. But life really is an ebb and flow. Lately I’ve felt ready again, ready to move consistently and start feeling stronger. I decided to step outside my comfort zone and try Pilates on the reformer. I’ve been following someone who shares her everyday pilates workouts, and it’s been both encouraging and intriguing. My commitment: 3–5 times a week until Cade and Zoey’s wedding in May.
