If you use clear elastics, you need to know these tips!

I get asked all the time how I remove clear elastics without damaging my hair. First, I recommend using the plastic clear elastics because they tend to pull and snag less than the rubber ones.

When it’s time to take them out, my favorite methods are using a hot curling iron to carefully snap the elastic or adding a tiny drop of lemon oil, letting it sit for a few seconds, and then snapping it. If you use lemon oil, be sure to wash it out afterward since it can be drying to the hair.

The best option, though, is to gently unwrap the elastic from your hair whenever possible instead of pulling it out. It’s the easiest way to help prevent unnecessary breakage and keep your hair healthier.
