Why does blonde look perfect week one and brassy by week six? It’s not a bad color job — here’s what’s actually happening:

That cool, ashy tone comes from toner, and toner is semi-permanent. It gradually washes out over 4–6 weeks, and as it fades, your hair’s natural warm pigment underneath starts to show through. That warmth is the brassiness — it’s chemistry, not a mistake.

This is exactly why lived-in color works so well. Because the blonde is blended down from your natural root instead of foiled right to the scalp, there’s no harsh line as it grows out, and the fade looks soft instead of stripey.

The fix isn’t a whole new color service. A quick gloss/toner refresh between appointments brings the cool tone right back. And at home: one purple shampoo wash a week (not every wash, or it goes dull and muddy) plus cool water will stretch it further.

Scalp foiling is my newest obsession! Scalp foiling gives you the all over appearance of a bleach touch up but the grow out of foils.
With Hannah we did a full scalp foil and added a root shadow to ease her grow out a little longer. Because let’s be honest, us hairstylist, although surrounded by all the color, we are the last to actually get our hair done. I’m still perfecting this technique that I learned in my class back in May by KIM HABERLEY !
