The Ivy Hill Farm Peach Dessert Contest returns this Saturday, August 15! Contestants of all ages are invited to showcase their favorite peach-inspired creations and compete for sweet bragging rights. Whether you're entering the contest or simply stopping by to sample the delicious desserts, it's a wonderful way to enjoy a fun community event while supporting a meaningful cause.

National Purple Heart Day is observed each year on August 7, honoring the courage and sacrifice of the brave men and women who have been wounded or lost their lives while serving our nation in combat. The Purple Heart is the oldest military decoration still awarded to U.S. service members and stands as a powerful symbol of valor and selfless service.

Today, we pause to remember the nearly two million recipients of this distinguished honor and express our deepest gratitude for their sacrifice. The Coast Guard’s mission is to protect the public, the environment and U.S. economic interests in the nation's waterways, along the coast, on international waters, or in any maritime region as required to support national security.
