The clip that spread this week shows Cardi B in a thin-strap top, shorts and comfortable shoes, broom in hand, as a man hosed down water outside her paternal family's house in Castañuelas, in the Dominican province of Montecristi.

She was in the country for her 34th birthday, which the family marked on October 11 with a cake and relatives singing around her. Celebrity Net Worth estimates her fortune at $120 million as of late August, including roughly $70 million in catalog rights.

Her ties to Castañuelas run deep. Her father, Carlos Almánzar, is from the town, and she visited his parents there in March while touring. Back in 2022 she answered a critic who mocked the modest house: "Esa es la casa que mi padre nació," noting the family also keeps homes in Santiago and the capital but still returns to her grandmother's little place "a comer un chivo."

The visit came with loss. A day after the birthday videos circulated, Dominican outlets reported that her paternal grandfather had died, with funeral rites held that weekend. On Instagram she addressed him directly, asking if he was already sending her signs and writing that she was not upset and "tuve un cumpleaños tranquilo."
